We visit this lake almost every weekend! We like to fish and ride around in the boat and this lake so far has not been very crowded. There are some people that will ski or pull a tube and get too close to you while you are fishing which is rude and inconsiderate - but other than that we have not encountered any negative or dangerous boaters. We have not caught many fish here but we still enjoy being out on the water. We have not camped here as we live about 40 minutes away but the campsites are clean and look inviting. There are playgrounds for the kids too. The bathrooms can be disgusting at times - especially the ones near the boat ramp.

We have been looking for a lake in the austin area that is at least somewhat full and not busy. I knew Granger Lake was in the area but i always thought it was just a fishing lake and not for recreation. I was wrong. I have been to most of the Central Texas lakes except for this one. The lake was very open and not busy. i saw about 10 boats in the lake and it was a saturday. I do recommend a dept finder due to the lake has some shallow spots. the deepest i seen the lake is around 25 feet but i did not ride the whole lake. There are some shallow spots. i only rode around the dam area and the park. The ramp at at Wilson Fox is concrete and big with a dock and paid only $4. i will come to this lake from now on.

Granger has several campgrounds. Sites are flat, paved and widely spaced with nice shelters. Restrooms are unheated and breezy. Very little privacy in showers. If the contracted mowing crew is there, lock up small stuff. We had some witnessed theft of fruit and hardware. The lake was full this spring (2014) and boats were out enjoying it. Volunteer Staff was friendly and helpful.

Campsites very close to the water with great views. Spacious also! Bathrooms were clean and water temp at the faucets were comfortable.Very quiet and nice trails by the water. Some construction across from #15 but i don't think it's gonna last very much longer and it didn't damper any of our fun at all. Fire rings appeared to be new as did the picnic tables and barbecue pits. I will return and bring the kayak next time! Not close to very much other than fields of cotton but we found Walmart about 30 miles away.

Granger Lake now has a must see attraction. Last winter, Whoopers (Whooping Cranes) began to over winter at Granger. Bring your camera, binocculars and lawn chair for a spectacle. Best place to watch is at the campground on the NW side of the lake. No fee in the winter.

Granger Lake is very pretty, and in the park (which has a $4 parking fee) there are many picnic tables, each under a private pavilion and also several grills. The best part is that there was hardly anyone there. Lake Georgetown has a nicer beach, however, if you want to avoid the crowds, Lake Granger is the place to go.

Lake Georgetown is a lot prettier. Nice trails there. Better views. Granger has good fishing in the spring when white bass are running. Shallow lake, hard to get out of the wind
