We did the kayak trip from Spring Gully back to rental location. The trip is really cool, it was my second time. Be warned, though, the end of this trip can be intense. It is the longest trip they offer and takes about four hours. The beginning drops you in brackish water, very isolated. You feel you are in the middle of nowhere. Very quiet and relaxing. There is much sea life around, though you only see it if you are slow, quiet and patient. Even then, you will see evidence more than the actual creatures....such as seeing that something is swimming away or towards you but never seeing what it actually is. There are gators here and we saw one swimming up close my second time, but they are usually shy enough to hide when they hear you coming. The second section of ride is across Mud Lake. Just as you enter lake there is nice large park you can stop at, eat lunch, use restroom, etc. My first time I had a gator come beside me as I crossed this lake and check me out briefly before diving back below surface. If it's windy, this trip is more challenging, because you will be going against it.Third section is when you pass under bridge and enter Clearwater lake. This is challenging!! If your not up to it, get picked up at an earlier point. You will face waves going against you and there are boats and other watercraft going by. Can be a little scary, but the kayaks never felt like they were going to tip either time I went. You will get a good upper body workout paddling to the exit point though!
