This is a great place to hike and enjoy the beautiful Hill Country! Make sure you walk through the cliff climbing canyon and along the Pedernales River.

After seeing this place on The Daytripper, we decided to go check it out. It was a beautiful drive around the park. They have areas for different adventures (river, climbing, biking, etc). There is plenty of parking & nice clean bathrooms. If you are going to the river, there is a road that leads down for you to unload your stuff but you have to go back up & park. We spent several hours here just hanging out in the river. Only saw maybe 6 other ppl out there. It was one of my favorite spots on our trip. Very peaceful day.

If you like nature, swimming and hiking, then these two parks are perfect for you. There is much to do in both, but this park is known for the rock climbing; whereas Hamilton Pool is for the swimming.This park is much easier to get into than is Hamilton Pool on the weekends. If Hamilton Pool has a line to get in, drive east and go into this park. You can swim in the river and drive your car fairly close to the river and park.If you have people in your group that are mobility challenged, this park is a much easier park for them than is Hamilton Pool.

Reimers is owned by Travis County and if you are a senior citizen like me, you can get in free along with everyone else in your car. The park rangers are as nice and informative as you will ever find anywhere. The park is for the adventurous. Do not expect mowed grass. This is a wild place where crazy people come to scale cliffs and race mountain bikes. There are some gravel trails that are flat and have fun informational markers about local plants and animals. The facilities are top notch with clean modern bathrooms. By the way the views are gorgeous with expansive vistas of the Pedernales River. There are some rough trails for the adventurous and they are indeed rough. This is not a boardwalk. Be careful because there are cliffs, snakes and other outdoorsy dangers.

For a relatively short drive from Austin this place is a great combo for hikers/climbers seeking to satisfy their outdoor itch. the Perdenales river is along the hike for cooling off in as well. Highly recommend to beat the heat!

We took a small hike to check-out the place and dipped in the river. I liked that the facilities were really clean and the grounds are maintained very well. The river is cool but not freezing. Next time, I definitely would like to ride my bike through the trails and see the areas for with the rock climbing.

We went to hamilton pool but was full, so we decided to spend the day here, it was an excellent option, the river was deep, so the kids could jump from the rocks, and have a nice swim, we park really close so we walk just 5 min to get to the river.

I absolutely love this place for all kinds of outdoor activities. The grounds are beautiful and the river that runs through it is clear and just cool enough that even little kids will tolerate it. You can rock climb, hike, trail ride with bicycles, swim, fish, bird watch, just get close to nature.It is a little far out but worth the drive. It is a county park so there is a fee to enter but it is reasonable. A hint of caution. Do not park on the rocky, sandy areas close to the river. It may look firm but one wheel spin and you are stuck with no way to get out except the kindness of strangers who may or may not be close by. Just stay in the designated parking areas.Can't speak personally about the bike trails but I have read others reviews and they say the trails are repetitive and switchback a lot.

Great spot for exploring and enjoying the river. We only stoped at the 1st and 2nd parking lots so I didn't get to see more than that but really enjoyed the 1st stop there where people rock climb and you can look out over the Pedernales River. The second stop we made was to park and walk down to the river bank and just relax. It was busy since it was a Saturday but not overrun with people. If you're looking for a cheap out door adventure with water this is a great spot for you. $10 per car to get in.

We came to this park with our horses because they have an equestrian trail. Essentially there is only one perimeter trail with a few small extra loops where horses are allowed, but in all, it's less than 5 miles long. Some parts of the trail were rocky, but most was dirt and sand, mostly two track road with some narrower trails. It was good for one ride, but I doubt we'll go back again. User fees are high for what you get (though average for around here), and it's not really interesting enough to warrant regular use. Might come back and go in the opposite direction one day, but not too likely.

We took our dogs to Reimer's Ranch Park today and had a great time. We are fairly new to the area but, this was our second trip to the ranch this month. We had done the upper hiking trail on our previous visit, very flat and very easy hiking. Today we did the river trail and both of our dogs LOVED it (they even got to swim). More challenging than the upper trail but, still a fairly easy hike. Lots of grade changes and a couple areas that had washed out. This is a great park and we have the areas that we visited to have been very well maintained.

My husband and I tried to go to Hamilton Pool Preserve only to be turned away by a 2 hour wait to enter the park. The park official told us about Reimers Ranch Park so we took a chance and visited and I'm glad we did. The river was beautiful and not crowded at all. We hiked all the way down to a secluded area with a beach, swam, and ate lunch. Along the way we saw snakes, lizards, and little fish swimming about. The river was refreshing and had great views. The bathroom facilities were very clean and nice. There is also rock climbing, mountain biking, and other activities. It definitely was a great way to end our visit to Hill Country. Looking forward to coming back soon.

I went with a couple of friends to check this place out because I had heard so much about it and had only ever been to Hamilton Pool up the road. It was totally worth it!Because it is not a 'preserve' like Hamilton Pool it has a lot of amenities like bathrooms (not porta potties), lots of parking, and a paved driveway down to the water. Don't get me wrong, I am a big supporter of preserves, but I have to admit that it was nice. I am not sure if it is technically 'wheelchair accessible' but if you were to go down the driveway in your wheelchair or drive down in a car, you would only have a little bit of gravely beachy area you would have to wheel through. Also the driveway leads down to the river, but you have to go back up and park at the top. So you could drop off canoes or food, but would cannot park right by the river.The river was great and got shoulder deep in some parts. There was a lot of space so even if there were families and kids on one side you could easily go to another part of the river and enjoy the tranquility. There were also a few people there fishing. It seems as though a lot of the trees were cut in the area which is unfortunate, but also makes it hard to get away from the sun. I recommend packing hats and umbrellas if you've got them.I will be going back.

Spent this past weekend in Austin catching up with the girls from high school. One of us lives there and was so kind to not only host us but to locate fun stuff for us to do. We went to Reimer's ranch on Sunday to float in the cool water and catch some sun. It is a very family friendly beach but still not too over run with families that a bunch of single girls in their late 20's cannot enjoy it. The water was perfect to me, but then again I grew up swimming in an artisan well pool. The views were spectacular. I am assume that they are even more breathtaking when the water is clearer. Unfortunately, the water was muddy due to the recent heavy rains at the end of last week. The rocky beach is not like anything that we have at home, but made it easy to anchor our innertubes in the cool shallow water and avoid a hike back to our stuff. We went to the main beach with a concrete path down to the river to allow for dropping off gear and not having to lug it up and down the hill. There are nice bathroom facilities at the top of the hill.
