I like how they kept everything original, we were the only ones there and the tour guide was super friendly.

This is a completed restored, Victorian home. Docents give an educational tour of the house, so you really feel immersed in the time period. History buffs will love it! The tour really helps one understand the day to day living of a middle class family in the Victorian era--how they dressed, spent their free time, cooked and ate meals, how they slept and kept themselves (and their clothes!) clean. Tours are free but donations are gladly accepted. No restrooms but there are porta-johns on site. No disabled access to the second floor; one must climb a steep staircase.

This home depicts the lifestyle of the wealthier citizens of Denton back in the 1800's. This house has Victorian décor and is nicely decorated. Admission is free and guided tours are available at no charge, but donations are welcome.

This is a beautiful home originally located on another plot of land, but moved to where it stands presently. It is informative and well preserved with a lot of artifacts and documentation in it. If you are a history buff and want to see things as they were, then this place fits the bill. It is nice to see how rooms were decorated and in working order from another era. Also, it is free, and it is next to another restored home museum. It is not large though, so don't expect to spend a lot of time here or in the other museum close by. Just enjoy it for what it is, a beautifully restored home from another time. These house museums are in walking distance by only two blocks from the Town Square Denton Courthouse Museum, so it is well worth the short walk.

Although this house had been moved and hadn't been compleetely restored to its original condition, my wife and I very much appreciated a good tour and our chance to learn more of local history.

11:30 on Saturday the 18th of January, despite a "We are open" sign on one of the buildings, it was locked up like a drum. We walked around for quite a while trying to find a way in. The garden curator told us to ring the bell and we did. Several times. She even tried the line to the courthouse and no one answered. What a shame- We were there with our German exchange student who was looking forward to seeing it. We were just in town for an event so I doubt we ever get a chance to go back.I suggest you call before visiting to make sure someone will be there.

This is a terrific place to step back in time and learn some good old fashioned history. This is a free tour and the docent is especially well versed in the history of the home and the era. We went at Christmastime and loved the decorations.

The people who worked there were so friendly! We wondered in on a Saturday just looking for something free and interesting. It was fun, educational and a great way to spend several hours. The staff knew so much more than just the basics and really seemed to enjoy showing us around and sharing with us. The garden was also a beautiful place to take photos!

Was really interested in this little bit of Denton's history, especially since my next door neighbor was kin. This is a lovely home and is filled with authentic furniture, pictures, kitchen equipment. It is free and a local guide is available to tell you all about the house and its history. A slave's home has been added, along with another building that I have not seen yet. If you are in Denton, these are wonderful buildings to see and you can see them in an hour or less.Sandy (in Denton)

The Bayless-Selby house is absolutely gorgeous. It's free to tour and you are lead by a docent, so you are able to ask questions and really get good detail on everything in the house. I recommend going during the holiday season, as they put up beautiful Christmas decorations and you can learn about old holiday traditions.Be sure to pay attention to their hours. They close for an hour for lunch every day. And when you get there, you have to ring a doorbell to get in.
