We stayed 4 nights over the Thanksgiving weekend in our RV. The park itself is gorgeous. We utilized the restrooms and showers, which were extremely clean. We also hiked around the lake on the trail. I use the term "hike" loosely because it was truly just a walking trail. Easy walk for kids, pets and older adults alike. Several benches are placed throughout the trail, as well as some huge logs that could be used for a resting spot. Tons of trees. No doubt somewhere you want to visit when the leaves start to change color. The only regret was that we didn't have our boat with us. Lots of kayaks and canoes on the water, plus the Park Store offers rentals.I would have given the park a 5 star review overall but some of the RV spots, including ours, were not even close to being flat, making leveling and chocking the wheels a task. Other than that, I can't wait to be back.

We just returned from a day trip to Daingerfield. This state park was very pretty. We hiked the Rustling Leaves Nature Trail. It was an easy 2.5 mile hike around the lake. We were hoping to see more birds, but did enjoy the woodpeckers. As with all the Texas State Parks, the staff was very helpful and works hard to keep this park clean and maintained.

My husband and I stayed at Daingerfield State Park during the Labor Day weekend. The park has a small lake, and a few hiking trails. We hiked around the lake one morning, and it only took about 45 min. at a leisurely pace. There are lots of mixed wood trees in the park, and a small variety of birds. The lake is small enough to take a paddle boat and tour the entire lake in about 45 minutes. We noticed lots of kids enjoying the swimming area, which has a floating dock anchored several yards away from the shoreline. The lake is clean and safe for everyone, as there are no motor-powered water craft allowed.Even though we made reservations several weeks in advanced, upon arrival, we were informed the park didn't have many sites left that can accommodate larger RVs. We have a 30' fifth-wheel, and had to make several adjustments before squeezing into the site they felt would work. The site wasn't very level and the paved space was narrow. Having full-hookup sites is nice though, but overall, the park isn't really geared for bigger rigs. After walking around the park to check out the other sites, we decided a few of the pull-through sites would have worked better. However, those sites were full. If you have a bigger rig, I suggest arriving as early as possible to secure one of the lake side pull-throughs.We enjoyed our short stay at the park, but I don't think we will return.

If you want a quick weekend away close to Dallas, Daingerfield State park is perfect. Has a nice little scenic lake with boat rentals, clean facilities, plenty of camping under tall pines, roads for biking, trails for hiking. This place is my quick out on the weekends. I can leave Dallas and have my campsite set up within three hours.

Stopped by just to hike on trail around the little lake. Very nice. Bathrooms better than average state park.

Took my wife and son here for their first camping trip ever. It was a very small park, with a very small lake and very few good camping sites to choose from. We could barely hear the wildlife over the highway traffic at night. During the day there were constantly work trucks and vehicles haulingaround the park doing who knows what. I will never go back and would never recommend this park to anyone.

We visited the state park in november and were lucky to see the fall colors on the trees. The park has lake which offers boat rentals. The park offers cabins as well camp sites for staying. Kids loved it and definitely going back in summer.

One of my favorite state parks with a beautiful lake tucked into a dense pine tree forest. Several great hiking trails with the best being the 3 mile hike around the lake. Lots of benches along the way to slow down and listen to nature. They also have an interpretive center and small supply/gift shop. There are camp grounds but we stayed in one of their three cabins, which was a good size, very clean and had a fire pit, picnic table and outdoor grill. Not the biggest or best state park in Texas but if you want a quiet weekend off the grid this is as good as it gets.

Daingerfield State Park is not fancy, but it is perfect for a family camping vacation. Hiking is great, the lake is perfectly sized and the amenities are just enough. For history buffs, it's a great example of Depression Era public works projects. The boat rentals are reasonably priced. The paddle boats are great; the canoe was a little tippy, but I'll blame that on my father-in-law, or was it me? The park rangers and staff are very friendly and helpful in every way possible. They has a great Easter egg hunt for the kids, sponsored by the local community. My family stayed in a cabin, which was perfectly rustic for a get-away to nature without being at all uncomfortable. My parents-in-laws stayed in their RV, just around the corner. Daingerfield is a great little town and one of the local churches was overwhelmingly welcoming to these newcomers that showed up at their sunrise service...wonderful people. Daingerfield State Park has all you need for a break from city life, but Daingerfield and the surrounding communities have enough civilization and culture for whatever shopping or restaurant needs you might have. Enjoy!

I just spent three nights at Daingerfield State Park. My wife and 3 children(12, 8 and 6) had a nice time. I have stayed at Tyler and Bob Sandlin and this is the most beautiful of the three. The trail around the lake is 2.5 miles and it was a great way to begin the day - absolutely beautiful. While this lake is more beautiful, I would give a slight edge to Tyler State Park if you have children. The playground at Daingerfield is old and small. The playground at Tyler is new and children gravitated to it. I stayed at the Dogwood camp and I would prefer it to the other camps.

We have been coming here for decades. We have camped, fished, cooked and swam. The State of Texas recently did a multi-million dollar make over. Come see for your self.

I love this park. The fact that it's small, clean and well taken care of, makes it a gem in East TX. I hope you guys continue to take good care of this park!

Just went on my annual trek to Daingerfield State Park. This jewel is a well kept secret of the many parks in East Texas. I live less than an hour from he park, and last year was my first visit; but won't be my last. It is a small park, but the grounds and facilities are immaculate. The fall colors were just coming in and will probably peak next week, but there were ample colors for some great shots. The park employees are very friendly and helpful, and actually act like they love their job! The campsites were very clean and "in the woods" and the rest rooms were spotless. There are canoes for rent and a camp store is on sight. For a fall hike in the East Texas pineywoods with the splashes of red, orange, yellow, and gold foliage displayed, this is a must see park. Thinking about returning next week!

This park is as nice as all the reviews say. Very clean, well maintained and just a joy to go to. There are boats for rental, although we take our dog so we have never rented them. The hiking is very nice along the lake, and some parts into the woods. The other trails are not as clearly marked, very busy terrain, and sometimes you don't even know if you are on the trail or not, but they aren't that long, so you do find your way back. The leaves were changing late this year, so very little color but that doesn't take away from the beauty of this park. Picnic tables and a playground are also available. You won't be disappointed here!
