Carthage is the natural gas capital. EVEN better is it is home to the one & only Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. This is a museum dedicated solely to the great musical talent that has been born or raised (& wish they were born) in Texas. Just 30 min. south of I-20 at Marshall Tx. well worth the drive if you enjoy country & western music.

A wonderful tribute to Jim Reeves, Tex Ritter, and so many more country artists with roots in Texas! Located in the heart of Carthage,Texas, it is a peaceful shrine to do many wonderful stairs, with live entertainment and a great gift shop!

This is THE ONLY Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and it is beautifully done! Well worth the drive over from I 20. Nice gift shop and will certainly entertain you for as long as you want to spend here!

Interesting country music museum for a nice low admission price. The museum is fairly small, although it is in the process of expanding as of the end of September 2014. All of the artists in the museum were either born or raised in Texas with the exception of Mickey Gilley. Even though he was born in Louisiana, he claims Texas as home.Since the Hall of Fame combined with the Tex Ritter Museum years ago, there is a large area devoted to Tex. In that area, there is also one person with an exhibit who was not involved directly in Country music. That one person was Tex Ritter's son, actor John RItter of Three's Company and 8 Simple Rules fame. For a $5 admission charge, it is a pretty decent, interesting museum. Give yourself a minimum of 1 1/2 hours if you aren't much into older country music. If you are into the traditional country music, you might want to be there as much as twice that long.There is a gift shop in the lobby, and my one negative to the whole museum is the fact that they are fairly pushy trying to sell you items in there.

Was here with a group of active seniors., the museum was great and Rhonda at the museum was great. She walked us around to get the lay of land and then we were on our own. She very helpful and informative. Will visit again when in area. We all enjoyed the museum, seeing all the inductees and pictures.

The city, people, attractions, accommodations and restaurants.The Country Music show was well worth the visit. We enjoyed touring the city and country side.

We stopped in at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame and Tex Ritter Museum and enjoyed every minute of our stay. There are nice exhibits about famous musicians born in Texas. There is an old jukebox and you can pick old songs to play. Listen to Tex Ritter, Jim Reeves, Ernest Gibbs and alot others while you stroll around the museum. There is a nice gift shop and the admission to the museum is a very fair price of $5 each. So if you like old country music, give this a try. The building seems very new and the restrooms were nice and clean.

Met Rhonda the curator who was an encyclopedia of knowledge on country music and entertainers of Carthage. We met up with Betty and Elenore. Betty grew up with Jim Reeves and was an awesome lady to get to know with her friend Miss Elly. A music Juke box with oldie goldies playing tunes from the past ,what a blast. Individual Glass displays with memorabilia of country legends, George Jones, Mickey Gilley, Jim Reeves, Tex Ritter and his son John Ritter and many more. A gift shop with authentic country ware and souvenirs. After visiting we took a ride over to Fugler's Feed and Trough for lunch, which is a 5th generation run business with awesome food which happens to be in Betty's Family.

This place had allot of inductees with allot of displays put in a small area. Very nice though and worth the trip.

Whether or not you are a country music fan ( we are) you should enjoy this wonderful little museum. It is most interesting and well laid out, and Rhonda the guide has many good stories to tell. We were so pleased we included this on our road trip from the UK.

I found this museum very interesting and found Rhonda to be very, very informative, knowledgable, and a person that you could tell, loved her job. Don't forget to swing by the Jim Reeve's gravesite and memorial (3 miles east) while you are in the area

The trip to Carthage was really worth it. The Texas country music hall of fame is the best. Rhonda will really help you with any questions that you have. She will take your photo in front of your favorite stars and she will let you play the jukebox and dance if you want too. They have all kinds of gifts for all ages. The book on Jimmie Dean was wonderful, also the book about the "Louisiana Hayride" and station KWKH was outstanding. I spent several hours there and had my photo taken in front of NEAL MCCOY's show window. And I danced to a lot of the old country music. It brought back a lot of good memories. I will go back again, it's well worth it.

Closes at 3ish. The museum was well-done & gift store was nice. I would recommend going to the museum if you are in the area.
