It's a little hokey, but the setting makes it worthwhile. We have been many, many times over the past 50 years. It is based loosely (very loosely) on the area's history.

Show is good with great talent and direction, but I miss some of the old stuff. Some of the plot has changed and the ending is now a much bigger production incorporating a lot of feel good, patriotic tunes. Those viewing the show for the first time will probably love it.

This show has it all… some of it seems a little odd, or disjointed in certain ways, but it is definitely an "Experience". Good Family Entertainment.Seating tip: Don't sit too more than half-way down from the top row. There are some side stages and you might get a crick in your neck if you sit down too far.

Absolute boot stomping fun! Totally daggy and over the top which is it's charm, a musical in the Canyon!! Kept us smiling and interested even once we got soaked form a downpour but that only seemed to add to the fun. The fireworks at the end topped off a surprisingly wonderful evening.

This show tells the history of the Panhandle in song, dance and comedy. The whole show is eye candy from the beginning to the end.

We loved this play. My husband had been to see it around 20 years ago and said it had changed some, but we enjoyed it. The singing, dancing, and humor left us feeling happy at heart, and the patriotic show with fireworks at the end was spectacular. This show is also very family-friendly, which we appreciate. We did not do the chuck wagon dinner.

Next season is the 50 Year Anniversary. If you want to be entertained you will not be disappointed. The last performance this season had over 1600 people in attendance. Everyone left happy! The Palo Duro Plein Air Painters enjoyed being a part of the souvenir program this 49th season. We had a blast painting for the visitors of TEXAS! Thank you to the staff that was so helpful! You all put on a heck of a good show!

I give credit to the performers in TEXAS. Right before the performance was scheduled to begin it started pouring. We assumed that the show would be cancelled or at least delayed, neither of which was a good option for us. Instead, as the audience gladly put on their rain gear (disposable ponchos for sale in the gift shop for a very reasonable price) and popped out the umbrellas, the performers took to the stage with full costumes and smiles, and the show went on. You would never know from the energy level of the performers that they were having to perform in a downpour. Instead, they included the weather in the show. Toward the end of the first act the rain stopped and the second act was even better! The show finished with an beautiful fireworks display. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If you get the chance to catch the show, I highly recommend it. The optional BBQ dinner for purchase before the show was very tasty as well.

Love the setting. Love that they used the canyon repeatedly during the play. Gorgeous set and costumes. Words to songs were hard to understand but otherwise lovely all around

WOW!!! A Must See!!Me and my wife are travelling Route 66 and we stumbled (luckily) upon the canyon and this show. We could not believe how patriotic & proud everyone was (we were slightly jealous!) IT WAS FANTASTIC! We didn't know what to expect but we soon realised this was a great night! The storm scene (against a canyon backdrop) was amazing!

We absolutely loved this performance! The last show of this season is Saturday, August 16th. No performances on Mondays.SEATS - * Discount coupon for 15% off on line. Be sure to mention it when you make your reservations.* Seats are reserved with your reservation. I had the impression from reading the reviews that you needed to be there when the gates opened at 8 p.m. to go in and get the best seats possible within a section, but that is not the case. It was quite warm, so there was no need to be there before 8:15 p.m. unless you are hungry and want to buy food.* Request center section, upper half. So much happens to each side that you won't be able to see everything nearly as well if you are too far down or too far to one side. We were in Row K, which was fine, but it would have been better viewing to be a couple rows higher (rows are lettered beginning with A near the stage) to see the things in the side sections better.* Bring a seat cushion. The seats are rather small and very hard. I appreciated having a cushion. (You can buy an inexpensive cushion at Walmart in the sporting goods section.)* The package that includes 4 seats in any section, 4 programs, and 4 backstage passes is a great deal. We didn't end up getting there in time for the backstage tour (last departure at 7 p.m.) but it sounded like fun.FOODThe Chuck Wagon Dinner is tons of food with three meats, sides, dessert, etc. We chose to stop in Canyon on our way out to the play and ate at Wendy's. They do have food for sale at the play and it is relatively reasonable, but I would suggest buying your food before the play if you want more than ice cream or popcorn as there was a long line at the intermission.SOUVENIR PROGRAMThe program is fun to read and I would suggest purchasing at least one. The information on the cast, the history of dancing waters in the finale, and how the play came to be is all very interesting.LODGINGThe drama is a 30 minute drive from Amarillo, where we stayed at a hotel. There are also several nice hotels in Canyon. The drama begins at 8:30 p.m. and is over at 11 p.m.GENERALGreat singing and acting. The Fireworks in the Grand Finale were fantastic. Visual effects were extremely well done with lighting in the canyon, horses, fires in the canyon, etc. Fun history lesson about ranching and farming in the founding and settling of Texas and the controversy of the addition of the railroad. No entrance fee to the state park is required if arriving in the evening for the outdoor musical.

A gorgous setting in Palo Duro Canyon, and told the story in song and dance about settling the Panhandle, and the coming of the railroad. Lots of humor, and the fireworks and water show were entrancing. Had the buffet dinner- food was good, but for older people there needs to be seating on the same level. Also, before the gates opened, there is not adequate seating.but, Lots of women's bathrooms!!!!! Finally a place that listens to its customers.

In the beginning I was starting to worry about how I was going to like the show, but as it progressed it was very good. It is worth the time and money.
