This building is historic and a landmark for Boerne. It was a library and now is being converted into a shopping center. I think its a nice building to go and see.

On February 14, 2012 the City of Boerne sold the the Dienger Building to an oil and gas company from Oklahoma. The 1884 historic building and focal point of Main Street is now private property. You may still see the beautiful exterior and read the historic markers from the side walk. As a historic building it may not be changed - let's hope the new owners maintain its beauty.

Built in 1884, the Dienger Building is an icon for the surrounding community as it serves as the "front porch" of the Texas Hill Country, reminding us of our distinct history, our current vitality, and our future growth capacity. The Dienger Building is no longer home to the Boerne Public Library, a new library building was constructed in 2011. The Dienger (ding-er) is now empty and may be sold by the City of Boerne. A group named "The Dienger ~ A Cultural & Heritage Center" was created to conserve and preserve the historic Joseph Dienger Building as a home for the arts, architecture and heritage artifacts of Boerne and surrounding Hill Country community. Please support this group if you want the building to remain public.
