My wife and I stopped here on a whim while driving from Yorktown to Newport News. The facility there has a nice little gallery giving a history of the area. The doge was very friendly and knowledgeable and really offered a pleasant tour of the house. It only took about 15 minutes to go through the house as some of the rooms were closed due to their being used for offices. Overall it was a nice visit.

We saw an ad for a local Wine Festival and thought we would check it out. It was held on the grounds of Lee Hall Mansion. The Fine Festival was wonderful, wine good, food offered also good and the music fantastic. We got to tour Lee Hall Mansion and it is one of the nicest preserved period house we've seen. There is a nice little museum on the lower level, then you proceed to the upper levels. Lee Hall Mansion id worth your time.

The best part of our visit was the guided tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and brought to life all the happenings and people that revolved around the Civil war era. If you are interested in American History, stop here. The Lee Family was an important part of early American history.

Just as the title states, this is a place where you can literally walk on history. When you enter the house the first thing you do is walk up the old servant entrance into the main room. You even get too look at the glass onto old war grounds. The experience you will get here is more than you can get at any museum. And the tour guides are great!

This was an interesting tour of a house with much history, dating to the mid-19th century. Tours are guided, and our guide was very knowledgeable about the house's history. Some restoration work has been done, but we were told that much of what we were seeing is original, exclusive of furnishings. The furnishings, while not original to the house, are period pieces. The house/restoration suffers from there not being much documentation that survived. Regardless, it was a very interesting tour that provides a glimpse into how the affluent lived during this time in our country's history.

For anyone interested in American History, you must stop here. The Lee Family were major players in early American and I learned a lot. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable on all of the family members. Even those who are not history buffs will enjoy the tour. The house and grounds are beautiful.

The tour guide was very informative and fun. Be prepared for several stairs as the home is 3 stories.

When I went here It felt like I was pulling up to a time in the past. It was so peaceful outside I just stood in one spot and imagined myself living in that day. I could feel the people outside on the porch pouring tea and complaining about the heat of the day. Looking out over the farm talking about how well the crops were growing. It just has that quit time you need to go back in time and place yourself there. I like this feeling, I love the house. If you like transporting yourself back in time. Go here and enjoy. Stand still and imagine yourself there and what it would have been like. Love IT

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the natural beauty of the home and the grounds surrounding it. The guides are volunteers and have a great depth of knowledge. I found our guide to be energetic and very nice. The history of the home is great and its connection with the Civil War is an added bonus. A table owned by Confederate General A.P. Hill can also be viewed within the walls of this historic home. A small museum is also present and houses many historical artifacts from the Civil War period. If you have a free hour or two, I recommend stopping by and enjoying the the rich history that Lee Hall Mansion has to offer.

Very informative Guide. So much history took place in this location. A lot of the furniture was not original to the location. Felt like I was in back in school

We've toured Lee Hall a couple of times. It doesn't have the deep Virginia history of some other homes in our region. It is a well preserved example of the type of house from the era.

This mansion has been restored to its original glory. We had a very interesting tour with a very informed tour guide. Small, but very interesting! A must see!

The mansion is beautifully restored. The tour was extra special because our tour guide Jessica was great! She not only gave the historical information but answered all of our questions. Worth visiting. A piece of Civil War history in the middle of Newport News.

Beautiful home. Well done museum in the basement. Furnished with period pieces but not pieces original to the home. The grounds are very nice. Would be more interesting if they were able to fix up the kitchen building and include that on the tour.

Another site to see to learn more about the beginning our our country. These sites should be seen while they can be as they won't last forever and I think it is very important to learn how our country started and why!
