We went for a Faimly vacation, it a very nice and well kept area. The heat is not great go ealry in the day and later in the evening after it cools down or try indoor sights in the afternoon. The actors are very good and try to give an accurate description of the events and history.

We did not allow enough time for this which was a mistake. Very relaxing place in the day and evening. We arrived late in the day and wondered around and wished we had got there earlier. We did the ghost walk in the evening which was entertaining. Really nice place.

I was not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by how well executed the whole town was. I could have spent a week just learning about the different 18th century trades. One of the best parts was meeting the town folk of Williamsburg. Mr. Hubbard, a local loyalist, as well as lawyer and gentlman, also made our trip great. After hearing the Declaration of Independence read, Mr. Hubbard asked our thoughts on the rescent events. I found that I had forgot much of U.S. history. He and others at Williamsburg have challenged me to think anew about our country's founding, and the great price many paid to gain the freedoms we often take for granted. I would recommend a trip here for any age group. Its a great experience. Oh, and rainy days are excellent if you have the opportunity to go then.

March is still a winter month and not every thing was open but we still enjoyed ourselves. The taverns were open for lunch but not diner so plan accordingly.

Spend the day at Colonial Williamsburg with my middle schools son and learned a lot about the state of Virginia and the Revolutionary war. There was a lot to see and you could spend at least a week exploring and asking questions. The next time we visit we are hoping to observe what it was like to be part of the revolutionary army. This particular visit was to learn about how Virginia became a commonwealth and how this is different than other states.

Buy the multi day pass there is so much to experience. Not recommended for young chikdren but great for teens and older. Do not miss the court room.

Discounted tickets, and most businesses/attractions were open. Very small crowds. The Art Museums are worth the admission price by themselves. They could do a better job cleaning up the snow though. Some sidewalks and paths were quite icy and dangerous.

You don't need to buy any tickets, go to the "Visitor Center", or take any shuttles. You can just drive into the west edge of the historic town, park your car, and walk around, all free (some parking is paid in a garage). The historic area is adjacent to the College of William and Mary campus, so the west end has a college town feel, complete with a Barnes and Noble run College Bookstore, and lots of college-town restaurants nearby. The historic part is basically an open public park with the original street plan and some old buildings. Much of the "town" is empty lots - maybe 1/5th of buildings are intact, and many of those are not original (still old, though). Online apps for outdoor walking tours are free, and give plenty of info. The gardens behind the Governors Palace are fun to walk through, though they might have required a ticket if we had arrived earlier, when the "staff" was still there.I found the Visitor Center to be a bit misleading. It makes it seem like you have to access the historic area via the shuttle and pay the fee, but that's really only necessary for some small interpretive bits in the town. It seemed a bit like a money-making scheme, and I was glad that we decided to just drive over and see what we could see. They have nice gift shops, but I was very glad I hadn't paid for any ticket or shuttle. We were there off-season (March 7), on a Saturday evening, just after the paid staff had left, and the whole place felt basically abandoned, except some other tourists quietly wandering around, some college students jogging through, and a few sheep in pens. Apparently, during high season, there are actors inside the buildings acting out things like candle-making, bread-making, etc., and going into the building to watch requires a ticket. Touring inside the buildings probably requires a ticket (none were open when we were there). Anything outside is free - costumed townsfolk, soldiers marching, farm animals, canons shooting, etc., though none of that was going on when we were there.

We have enjoyed visiting Colonial Williamsburg every time we have been there. It offers a unique historic atmosphere which puts an individual right in the middle of the United States' Revolutionary War era in order to give a wonderful perspective of that particular time period. There are actors in convincing roles of primary figures who helped shaped the country and more general kind of folks dressed in period costume which are found in and around town. The fife and drums performances aren't to be missed, either. The ambiance is also historically accurate with regard to the main architectural attractions like the Governor's Palace and attached gardens, the Capitol, and Bruton Parish Church, just to name a few. In addition, people may also experience the daily way of life for that time period which includes various reenactments and programs. Plenty of town shops, taverns (restaurants), carriage rides (you have to reserve and this attraction costs extra), bakery, gardens, trades like silversmithing, etc. to enjoy while there. Our family also likes the museums which are located close to the main hub and also close and adjacent to is Merchants' Square. We have never come away disappointed from Colonial Williamsburg. Always fun and interesting!
