What a great tour! Learned so much about Thomas Jefferson and had a wonderful tour guide. I did the $25 standard tour which took about 45 minutes and then afterwards roamed the grounds a bit before seeing Jefferson's burial site. A great morning!

Beautiful views and grounds. The home was lovely and well thought out. Would love to come back when the gardens are in bloom and can walk around more.

We went for Scout Day at Monticello. They had lots of interesting activities for the scouts and we enjoyed the tour of the house. Our tour guide, Marianne, was great and engaging with the kids.

This was my third visit to Monticello. Today was Scout Day and girl/boy scouts were given a discount, so we took our daughters, both Girl Scouts. The tours run every five minutes and the regular tour is first floor and part of the terrace. Very interesting tour, informative guide, and this particular tour was geared towards children. Our girls loved it.You could easily spend an entire day on grounds. Mulberry Row, the working home underneath Monticello, the vineyard, family cemetery, museum, café, gift shop. It is a great experience. A good time for the whole family!

Learned lots about Jefferson and history on this visit. The house sits on a mountain and the views are magnificent! The house tour is a don't miss. Jefferson was an interesting man. The slavery tour is not a tour. It is a lecture about the slavery on the property. The gentleman who spoke was interesting but he said the same information could be found on the website. So if your time is short you can skip this. The museum is very informative and you can even have a beer than is claimed to be 'close' to Jefferson's own recipe.

We were on a tour where two small children were with their parents. The children (through no fault of their own) were very restless, crying and just distracting to other people and even the tour guide offered them the option of taking another tour, which one parent declined. I actually was ready for the tour to end, so I could go on my own. So, if I had it to do over, I would try not take a tour with people who have small children.

Jefferson's house and gardens. You see how the great man lived amongst his possessions and inventions, like the dumb waiters built in the dining room so that the food served at his table was always hot, his extensive wine cellars and the slave quarters built out by the gardens.

We went along on the encouragement of some locals and were a bit nervous as we do not know much about Jefferson or US history in general, and we aren't particularly interested in history. We very much enjoyed our visit though with the tour guide being exceptional. The house, and the man behind it, are so interesting that you can't but become engaged in the history.

We were pleasantly surprised how enjoyable this visit was. We wanted to go on the full tour but they did not have tickets available for us when we arrived so I would highly suggest you reserve your tickets on line. So we did the basic tour which didn't include the top floor and dome. Our tour guide was Mary B. and she was terrific. Mary was very professional, funny and welcomed everyone's questions both during and after the tour. We also toured the outside grounds and found it all interesting. We spent about 4 1/2 hours there and enjoyed every minute of it. We learned so much.

I have always enjoyed going to Monticello. I have been many times and will continue to return many more. This is a great educational experience and no two tours are ever the same. Spring and Fall are my favorite times to go.
