My husband& I take our kids here a lot in the warmer months & we all enjoy it. There are miles & miles of greenway to walk, run, let your kids ride trikes or stroll them along & there are places you can go off to on the sides to put your feet in the water, go swimming or have a picnic. Much recommend & fairly quiet & secluded but not isolated

In the middle of beautiful downtown Luray lies another hidden gem. Every small town in American should have one. The Greenway circles downtown along the Hawksbill Creek. There are murals painted along the nearby buildings. Great place for a stroll.

The other reviews pretty much have all the details. We walked it end to end with a stroller. 7 year old & I did some rock hopping in the stream & were able to see foot-long fish. Nice walk with plenty to see & do. Great for kids, dogs, or strollers. Very well maintained & laid out. Nice to do after a stop at one of Luray's many lunch spots.

Well designed for people and dogs (cleanup mandatory), waterway with fish & waterfowl, cows(!), flowers and trees, local art, benches, modern clean restrooms. Winds through town, many access points, parking, foot and bike paths. Popular with friendly locals.

If only my hometown (Richmond, Virginia) could take a page from Luray and build a greenway like this. It was several miles long, paved (would be great for strollers), with bathrooms and "mutt mitts" along the way. for much of the path, it runs along a small stream. There is intermittent shade. A wonderful addition to this community. If I lived there, I would walk on the Greenway every day.

We had been driving for several hours when we noticed the Hawksbill Greenway along RT.340. We appreciated the nice parking area and picnic tables where we made a simple lunch. People were walking the trail and enjoying the beautiful day. The area was clean and the accent gardens were well maintained. We did a short walk exploring the edge of the cow pasture looking for butterflies and were not disappointed. After we returned home, we researched the Greenway know that it we would like to return to Luray to explore more of the Greenway.

After hiking several trails the Greenway was a wonderful little wind down from a long day. A casual walk by the creek and chatting with some of the locals was just what we needed. Even fed the ducks and geese.

The Hawksbill Greenway a walking and biking path that runs through the downtown area of Luray along the Hawksbill Creek. It's a nice place to enjoy beautiful landscaping and murals, as well as the picturesque creek. Duck. heron, and other wildlife sitings are the norm. It's a great place to have a picnic - the only problem being that maps of the Greenway don't show the picnic areas. But it's nice to be able to explore and then walk right back into the downtown area.

If you're looking to walk or bike on a paved path, and not the tons of trails available close by in the GW and Shenandoah Parks, this is a good option. The Greenway is scenic and runs for the most part alongside Hawksbill Creek. It gives you access to Main Street and shopping, restaurants, etc., and the farmer's market on Saturdays in season. It'd be really nice if they could extend it further south into the countryside. A planned replacement of the Main Street bridge will hopefully widen the path underneath.

Loved walking the greenway and looking at all the kooky ducks! Also saw two different aquatic birds (couldn't tell you what). Lovely indigenous plants landscaped around the greenway. Would love something like this in my town!

We like all aspects of the hotel and town, and that's why we keep going back. In addition, they feature live music and special events on a regular basis.

It's a peaceful scenic walk near a rumbling brook. It's also clean and there are plenty of benches. I just wish that they can plant more flowers around the area.

My son and I enjoyed a picnic lunch here as well as walked the trail through the greenway thereafter that has beautiful scenery, animals, park benches featuring personal dedications and signage explaining the history of the grounds. Definitely a spot of leisure.
