i had made reservations ahead of time as we were going on vacation in the area. well the afternoon before we were going to play there they called and said they were spiking the greens on back nine(bummer) they offered us a reduced rate to play the front nine twice. there were some long holes, short thinking holes, a nice mix. course was in very good condition. we hope to get back to the area to play both nines, it is well worth the price. a good golfing experience.

Played two rounds today at this course. Thought i would enjoy a day with some friends. great weather. thought we would splurge on an upscale course. beats playing same ol courses over and over. The replay rate made it seem more affordable. The course is pretty challenging. The conditions of the course were great the ball sat up great in fairways. The greens rolled great. Free range balls the hot dog at the turn was pretty good too. Overall great roun can't wait to play it again

Course layout is amazing. Course conditions were very good. A shot makers course. A bit of a drive but very well worth the effort to get there. If an intermediate to better golfer give it a shot. It will challenge you

Have played this course several times and it seem to get better every time. Just finished playing a round with my son over the Fathers Day weekend and all I could say is WOW!!! The course is just in great shape all of the folks that work there are very nice and the food is good as well. I have played many so called high end golf course in Virginia but this one by far tops them all. The price is well worth it. Never any back ups at the course and was able to complete a weekend round in just about 4 hours. Hats off to the staff for keeping this course so nice. Juist a great course and a must play.

What a nice facility. It is a minimalist course that rolls up and down the pine covered hills around the clubhouse. You won't find a lot of flat lies, but that adds to the course. The greens were well taken care of. You didn't see a lot of "ball marks" on the greens. It rained while I was playing, so I can't really rate the bunkers. They were manicured, but obviously with the rain they were hard. The fairways were in very good shape.Play the right tee box (play it forward). Ask the starter for help. The slope is 139 at 6,400 yards, so you know this is not an easy course. If you're heading south to SC to golf, stop here on the way. If you live within an hour of the course, make the trip. Have fun. I did.

Mattaponi Springs is a must play golf course. My fiancé and I stopped there on the way home from Myrtle beach to break up the ride and boy were we happy we did. The rate for November was $89 which I was taken back by at first but after a short while I realized why. The pyramid of golf balls waiting for me at the driving gave me chills of excitement. The facility was clean and comforting. I felt like I was at a country club. The course is in the middle of no where which made it very quiet and peaceful. The changes in elevation make this course challenging yet gratifying if you hit your shot right. The course does not have much traffic. We stayed a twosome on a Sunday at 9:30 and had the course to ourselves. The condition of the course was superb. From the lush fairways to the beautiful rollings greens we would definitely give this course an A+. Next trip we take we will make sure to stop at this course again and so should you.

This course is a "must play" for golfers in the Richmond area or just passing the Kings Dominion area on route 95 in Virginia. It's tucked into some rolling countryside just N of KD with no sign of residential or commercial development. Just you and your foursome out in the woods. The condition was five star and a challenging layout as well.

My neighbor and I drove to Mataponi Springs from MD a couple of weeks ago and couldn't have had a better experience. A beautiful and challenging course which lives up to its reputation. GPS cars and complimentary range balls. Well worth the trip.

great place, wonderful course. Girl at front desk was the same girl at the bar--so sweet. The young boy collecting carts--well he needs to go get a real job since he didn't want to wupe down our clubs.

We played here on the way back from Myrtle Beach due to it's ranking in Golf Digest's public courses Top 100.The layout was very nice and scenic. Multiple sets of tees were welcome due to the difficulty of the back tees. The course is long and difficult from the back.We played here on a Friday afternoon at 3pm and the course was mostly empty. For $49 it was a steal. A very quiet, enjoyable round of golf for all of us. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes were all well maintained. Some of the areas of rough were noted to consist of multiple types of grass, but it did not detract from the scenery.I would recommend playing this course and enjoying the beautiful clubhouse,

Made a tee time on a friend's recommendation and have no regrets. Great course, especially for a public. Offer a very good military rate which is much appreciated and offer service commensurate with a private course. The lone caution: don't play right after a rain unless you're prepared for the onslaught of black flies.
