Price of entrance was a bit of a surprise, but well worth the cost! You can even purchase feed to feed the animals and so you can get an up close and personal time with some of the animals! After the drive through the park you can walk through an area and see some really lovely animals. The white tiger is awesome. And the tropical birds are colorful and fun to watch! All in all a wonderful place to visit. And, if you have children this would be an excellent day trip for them!

We took our 2 grandsons(age7 and 9) to the Safari park and it was well worth it(though a little expensive) We saw animals we'd never seen, but the fun part was driving through and feeding the animals. They would come right to the car and sometime get right in your face! Have you ever had a long-necked emu staring at you just inches away.?

we were just driving through and stopped in. Very worthwhile. Kids loved seeing the animals up close. One word of advice - if you go late in the day there is no need to buy the food to feed the animals - they are apparently stuffed late in the day and won't be attracted to the food then.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Virginia Safari Park. The walk-through portion is very good - I have never been so close to kangaroos or had several budgies on a stick! The drive-through, however, is better than any I have previously experience - we went through twice! The park was huge and the variety of animals amazing. Being from New York's Human Zoo it didn't take long to figure out which animals to feed, which to avoid, and when to cut them off. I highly recommend that you steer clear of the camels. Sit back from them and watch as they steal every bucket and proceed to eat it along with the contents.

It was so much fun!! First of all I would recommend that you use a rental car, the animals make such a mess. We started out with 4 buckets but ended up getting more. The llamas attack you as you first drive in, they surround your car and won't let you move until you feed them. One stole the bucket while the other nipped my finger so I would let go and the feed went everywhere. Another stuck their head in and spit Yuck! The camels like to steal the buckets also, even with holding the bucket as tight as you can they are really strong. They have the animals divided into different areas so you can have a breather after being surrounded. The drive was beautiful through the woods. Make sure you do the walk through safari too! The grounds were very clean and the staff was very informative. The gift shop had a lot of neat things. It was well worth the price.

the safari is a lot of fun they have a drive through and walk through safari. The drive through is the most fun. The animals will stand in front of your car and won't get out of the way until you offer them food. they stick their heads right into your window and make a huge mess off you food bucket. Its a great place to take kids to.

This place was great! Plan on 4 buckets minimum - you will use it. Once you get by the crazy llamas trying to get in you car; the drive though the woods is beautiful. Lots of deer and elk, my two favorites. Oh and watch out for the bucket stealing camels!

it was a great time!! At first i said it was too much money, but after it was well worth it ,i believe between the two of us it was close to 45 bucks. we got 4 buckets of feed, he got one or two for free being military . having the animals come inside the car and feed them was awesome. i wish i would have gotten more feed, the camels def steel it. i just loved that the animals could roam free for the most part, they had enough space to where they were not miserable ,i cant wait to go back!

while driving on 81 South we noticed signs for the Virginia Safari. Being animal lovers we decided to check it out. It was such fun. You have a chance when you purchase your tickets to also purchase a bucket of food. We bought 4 buckets which seemed like too much. When you enter you are in your car and the animals come right up to you. Loads of deer and alpacas. The drive takes as long as you want. The animals are everywhere. Giraffes, bison, zebras and on and on. Just a great stop. The four buckets were gone quickly. We are in our 70's and wish that our grandkids were with us!!!!

The best thing I like about this park is that the majority of the animals are not in cages and on display. The are on 300+ acres and have the freedom to move about as they please. If they do not want to be around people, they don't have to. When you first go there, buy a bucket or two of feed, but ask for an extra bucket to divide up the feed in case one of the animals, namely the camels, decides to steal your bucket. The ostriches will make a mess grabbing food and there is always the risk that an animal will kick your car (they are wild after all), so if all you have is a fancy luxury car, you can always opt for riding on their hay wagon. I had a zebra kick the front of my car because I inched up a little to close to him when he was blocking the path. The animals, however, are very well cared for. They also have a giraffe section where you can feed them and they have a small petting zoo with farm animals. It's a great place to take the kids. BEWARE: this is not the Luray Zoo, so do not get the two mixed up.

Watch out for the spitting llamas! Yes one spit on me and my son. The animals bombard you at the gate...good luck keeping up with the demand. Funny!! Cant tell you how much we laughed. YOUR CAR WILL GET DIRTY. Animals will not respect your space. Camels have long necks and will help themselves to your bucket. Ostriches and Emus will probably scare the kids at first. Lots of fun! Petting area was fun, but budgie cage was awesome! Spent 30+ minutes with the birds. They land on you and if you are quick, you can grab and hold them...watch the beaks!Would do it again, BUT, will wait to open the windows after passing by the entrance for sure.

After visiting the Natural Bridge and caves, my husband and I visited the park on our way home. It was a wonderful experience. I drove and fed the animals while my husband took pictures. I laughed the entire way around the park and all the way home just thinking about the experience. Spent the next day cleaning kibble out of the car, but it was well worth it and I can't wait to take my grandchildren. Meg in Virginia

Must go on a clear, warm day. The variety of animals is very impressive. Recommend getting extra empty buckets along with feed purchase so you can divide it up. Llamas are experts at knocking them out of your hands as soon as you enter the park. Be sure to pull to the right when feeding so others can pass. Walking park is just as fun and interesting.

I was wary of going to a place called a safari in the state of Virginia , especially when I saw the price per person . I decided to take the chance and take my 3 boys (4 and under ) and my mother (67) . We pulled up and I tried to get every discount possible . I can say now , after going that it was worth every penny spent and I honestly feel guilty for trying to get a lower price . The grounds were impeccable ! The animals were absolutely amazing and I loved every minute we spent there . Every one of us , young and old , had a fabulous time . The drive was breathtaking, humorous, fun , quite intense at times ( ie , the elk :) ) , while being a learning experience at the same time . After the drive , we visited the petting zoo , which was just as spectacular. Overall , this is one place that I would recommend to any animal lover of any age . I am looking forward to returning in the near future without any hesitation of paying the full price !
