Good prices but the course is rather tricked up. Average condition. Water supplies for drinking were empty. It was a hot day.

Penderbrook used to be a top notch course in the area but they built too many houses around it and subsequently lost its character. Not keeping the course up. That said, for a new golfer that wants to go bang it around and have fun, it's OK just watch out for all the homes. Not for the above average golfer

Under new management. If you played it in the past the course is 100% better. Now run by Traditions (same outfit that runs Stonewall) and they are putting money into it. Best to call for reservations as they do get busy and close the course for extended time for tournaments. For $40 a year you can join the Commonwealth Club. Membership include your first round with cart. After 9 discounted paid rounds you're 10th is free. Also discounts for seniors over 60. Senior members can play for $25 after 11:00 Mon-Thu.

I played here recently for their NFL Kickoff scramble with a buddy of mine. Not a stranger to these best ball scrambles, I found Penderbrook to be very disorganized. No signs on the carts until a few minutes before we teed off, the food in the clubhouse was sub-par (not to mention) they ran out of bbq pork half way through the buffet lunch, decor was tired looking, the whole clubhouse was kinda small, etc. But the course itself was in rough shape, fairways were pretty haggard, mushrooms growing in the middle of the fariways, greens beat to hell, you couldn't tell where the fringe/rough/fairway started or ended, etc. Would I come back to play this course, probably not. Much better courses throughout VA & MD to play.

I recently played at Penderbrook again, on a Sunday morning. The tee times are always, always, always stacked up at Penderbrook. The reason is that it usually a decent price, if you use an email special, or are in the military. $35 for military personnel on a Sunday morning? Includes cart, for 18 holes in Northern Virginia? Yep.The condition of the course has ranged from horrendous to good. It is currently (Aug 14) in good shape. The greens were in excellent shape, although why people do not repair their ball marks from hitting the green kills me. Take the minute to repair the mark so it doesn't ruin the surface for the rest of us!The place is ALWAYS slow. People tee off one after another and the course is narrow, so it often backs up while someone is looking for their lost ball in the trees, near the stream, etc. There is a stretch of 3 consecutive holes that go over water, which is hard for some players... so it can back up. Plan on a 4:45-5 hour round. Seriously, I have never played a round in under 4:30. This is the only reason it doesn't rate a 4... because the course is fun and challenging, fairly narrow. Inexpensive with special though!OOOOH, and I forgot.... NO DRIVING RANGE!!! ARGH!!! I still go though :)

If you played here more than two years ago you may be hesitant to return. It's under new management (Traditions, like Stonewall) They are making improvements and throwing money at it without raising green fees. I joined the $40 Commonwealth Club as a Senior and get $25 rounds with cart Mon-Thu and every 10th round free. There are a couple amusement park quality holes, 8,9,11 and 17, but for the price in Fairfax County I play here every week. Gimmick holes included.. .

I love this course never get tired of playing it, and they have a membership program that offers free beverages when you arrive. Prices are decent for the area.

I've played Penderbrook GC many times over the years. It has recently changed management and the course is in MUCH better shape and manicured-although it's usually in pretty good shape most of the time. Wait times are not too bad as the starters have been better telling players to pick up play etc. The restaurant/snack bar has gone through some really good changes and the food quality has improved IMMEASURABLY! They finally have dishes, silverware and the food is not served in styrofoam trays and plastic utensils. Breakfast and lunch foods are made to order and are really good eats!

I started playing here about a year ago after seeing a midweek special on GolfNow. The course has changed management and they are trying new pricing so look for deals or join the Commonwealth Club for weekday special rates. Overall the course is well kept and grounds keepers seem to be on the course somewhere making improvements every time I play.I always walk on as a single and never have to wait long to start.I'm a 18 handicap and find Holes 9 and 10 are very difficult from the blue's and I just play from forward tees rather than rinse balls. For the price I will keep coming back.

Penderbrook is coming back strong - this is a great little course with some really challenging holes and some birdie opportunities. The new management group is paying attention to course conditions and putting some $ into the course. Highly recommend it!

This used to be a hidden gem where you could sneak in a quick game. Now, it's more or less in disrepair and poor management. I'll head back to the other courses in the area, no need to come back.

No more free beers, but now the course is in it's best shape in the last ten years and you can't beat $30 for 18 holes with free repeat plays and a cart!

cheap for a reason, greens are in terrible condition along with the fairways. Tee boxes? What are they? Needs new management who knows how to run a business. Would be willing to pay more and would go more often since the location is great. The owners should be ashamed of themselves for leaving this course in such horrid condition. Also, spread the times out more so a round could be finished in less than 5.5 hours please.

Penderbrook is a fantastic place to get that round of golf in. The setting is great! The staff is reall aatentive and kind. The condition of the course is good, but could use a little more attention, but it won't affect your play. With plenty of water and sand, either stay in the fairway, or bring your beach gear. The OB due to the homes lining many fairways also keeps you honest and in line. This is a challenging course, even though it is not real long.

Tight, short, challenging course which is under new management and seems to be getting in better condition.Good value with discounts and rarely overcrowded.Be careful not to kill children playing in their yards with errant shots.
