They have a lot of great things for kids who like to role play. There are things to climb on or under, play store, play kitchen, real woody station wagon to sit in and pretend to drive. Our kids had a blast here but outgrew their love of this place by 6 years old. I would say the perfect age for kid visitors here is 3 to 5.

My family loves kid city! We started taking my niece from the time she could walk. Almost every surface is painted and it is visually enchanting. Now I take my boys who are both 2 and under. We take our stroller and some snacks in and park it, in a designated area. We love the sea cave which is designed for kids 2 and under. The boys also love driving the car and space ship and watching the train in the upper level. We can relax and have a snack in the designated snack area. The boys love the low seating and tables and I love the sinks and water fountain in child height. Every bathroom is a family style bathroom set up with a changing area. This makes juggling two toddlers much easier! Go at less busy times or get a membership to visit during member only times.

This is a place for play, with a lot of help from the ingenious designers who offer different scenarios, most that you wouldn't think of (a fish cannery, for example), and make them really fun. Grandparents love it too -- it's a treat for those of us who remember a time when not every single toy or place for kids to play had a brand. And there are LOTS of places to just sit and watch the kids play! Perfect combo. Worth an out of town trip.

Prefer over stepping stone and bigger children's museums. Smaller rooms, less noisy but just as busy as the other ones. One section was closed to renovation and the toddler area is limited to little ones but still plenty of rooms to roam. Older toys.

My nieces (ages 4 & 7) and I spent several hours wandering through and discovering this museum's serpentine rooms. Each room is unique and interesting, with many hands-on activities for kids and adults alike. I was a little worried that my 7 year old niece would be bored, but she had a blast, especially at the fishery, where we easily spent 45 minutes trying the various contraptions and pulleys. Although I do think it's more geared for toddlers and younger kids. It's a little pricey (same price -- $8 each -- for children and adults) but definitely worth a visit. One can leave the museum (plenty of lunch choices nearby) and return thereafter. Must try the old fashioned machine for washing hands!

We go to this museum often and love it most of the time. We stopped going to the basement play area because there are always older kids that run around even if it not a "big swim" day. It can be very crowded so go early in the day. The rooms are small. One section on the top floor has been under construction for the past 1.5 years.

I purchased a membership to kid city after visiting once and loving the kids caves, an area for children under 2 at the museum. The artwork and concepts of the museum are very creative. We have been at least 6 times and always stumble on a new unique detail that we never noticed before. My sons favorite areas are the caves, the fish room and the music area.

We have been to this place twice now and my kids really love it. Although it may seem small in the outside, there's a of things to do once you go inside. There are plenty of things for the kids to play with and use their imagination. The staff is really friendly and are willing to answer any questions or help you out in any way. My only complaint is that the downstairs toddler room lacks things to do for kids but is decorated very nicely.

We brought our toddler (13 months) to Kidcity yesterday for the first time and spent a wonderful 3 hours there. We were a bit concerned that there wouldn't be enough for her to do but we found that there was something in each exhibit that captured her attention, even if it was something simple like plastic play food. It was quite busy as we went on a cold weekend day but I expect the weekdays aren't so bad. Each family restroom has a large plastic bin called the Parent Emergency Kit that has spare diapers, wipes and even pants for parents who are in a bind. Great for people like us who occasionally forget to bring our diaper bag :)Ironically, the only part about the museum that our daughter didn't enjoy was the basement-area toddler room. Maybe it was the loud colors or the strange outlay of the underwater-themed exhibit but it freaked her out just a little bit and we didn't stay down there long. We spent a lot of our time in a little area called the "Floor Play" room which has a nice padded rug with tons of wooden blocks to play with. Some of the blocks even stick to the metal walls like a giant refrigerator. As we only live 40 minutes away from Kidcity I'm sure we'll be back to visit again in the future.

Multiple floors with awesome exhibits for kids to explore. Be prepared to spend a good chunk of time here with the kids - like half a day, minimum. Bottom floor is for babies and toddlers only, which is great!

My grand daughter will spend 4 hours here, completely engrossed. What more can I ask for? As we live close by, the yearly membership is a bargain.

We have always had a good experience at kid city! They change the rooms periodically and keep it interesting!

Myself, along with my young child are world travelers. We often find ourselves in new cities finding things to do while my husband works on short term projects for work. Due to this, I have been to about 10 Children's museums around North America over the past year. Kid City is right at the top. It is not too big, not too small. Everything was just his size and well maintained. He loved the machines with the balls and the serene toddler area in the basement. A wonderful trip which we will return to.

I have a two year old grand daughter and thanks to another trip advisor reviewer who answered my plea for places to take our little ray of sunshine, we drove over to this fun, fun, fun place. Not the easiest place to find, it is just off Main street and parking is in the back. We arrived by 10 am on a Saturday and never did it feel too crowded in the 2.5 hours we were there. Admission is $8 per person, which if I lived in CT, I would spend the $100 for a yearly family membership. The rooms, created by hand using wood, are so colorful and hands-on that appeals to ages 2 to probably up to 7 or 8 year olds. A toddler room for those under 2 is in the basement - a nice touch for crawlers and toddlers just starting to walk. We were thrilled at how safe and fun it was for our two year old. She picked up on concepts and had a blast trying out everything. A new large corridor is being prepared for 2014 - can't wait.

The detailed thought and creativity put into this place is very admirable. We followed the advice of another review and went during a weekday when weather was nice, so we had lots of personal space. I could see it getting crowded quickly with all the small spaces.
