My husband and I visited Back East Brewery this Saturday. They give tours on Saturdays at 12:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00. The tour costs $3 and lasts about 50 minutes. You get a tasting glass with your tour that you use to sample the beers (there were six on tap when we were there). We had to wait a little while until the tour started so we began our tasting with the first three, lighter beers. The tour was very interesting - we've done quite a few brewery tours and this one went in depth in their beer making process starting with selecting the hops/barley and finishing with how and why they choose to can their beer. One of the owners was our tour guide - he was great. He's good at what he does and obviously knows the process well. Afterwards, we tried the last three beers. All were very good, but I really loved their Seasonal beer - Summer. The servers who were pouring the tastings were both really friendly and gave a lot of information about each of the beers. Sometimes, with a small business you don't always find the most personable people, but everyone who was at the brewery was friendly. The prices were very reasonable for the merchandise as well as the Growler fills ($9.40 plus a deposit for the growler). If you're in the area, definitely go in and check this place out. There's seating if you want to hang out in there for a while.

Stopped here on a brew tour this past weekend. $3 got us 6 samples and collective glass. All the beers were good with the Misty Mountain IPA being my favorite. The recent spring release was a darker ale which was a little heavy but still enjoyable. Overall really enjoyed their selections..

Great place to stop and sample some 1st class beer. The Porter is unbelievable! You can sample their standard selection as well as their current seasonal brew. Tours of where the magic happens are on Saturday's from 12-4pm for only $3 and you get an awesome Back East Glass to keep. We have many in our collection! Usually the owners give the tours, Tony and Ed do a great job! I would recommend this for anyone passing through or to go out of your way!
