We found The Little Red Schoolhouse by following an attraction sign on I-55. A few miles down the road we saw this beautiful brick building. We were peeking in the windows at the old schoolroom when the caretaker walked over and asked if we'd like to tour the building. He was very informative and showed us around the schoolhouse both downstairs and upstairs. The cornerstone for this building was laid in 1847. The downstairs shows a typical layout for an old school and the upstairs shows a typical layout for a Freemason hall. The caretaker talked to us about the history of the building and the history of The Eastern Star. This was a fun and interesting stop.
