We are local and enjoy visiting, the cafe is a little high priced but we usually eat before we visit anyway. The enclosures are clean, animals happy, and plenty of environmental enrichment.

Dickerson Park Zoo is a fun, safe environment to visit. Totally family friendly and interactive. It is a beautiful place to walk alone for a peaceful day or with the whole family exclaiming about all the adorable animals! With features like a train ride, opportunities to buy snacks all through-out, and benches placed periodically so one can sit and peacefully watch the animals, you're sure to have a great time! I have three specific favorites about visiting here: 1) The Petting Zoo portion, located by "Australia". I could spend an hour here, alone. Petting and feeding (for small fee, 50 cents) the goats, sheep, baby cows, miniature horses. I love, love it! 2) The fox, sweet sweet little fox. and 3) The peacocks that have free range of the place.

This is a place I never get tired of. The animals are healthy looking and it's clean. I got exercise from the walk and you can even feed the animals in certain areas. The price has gone up it seems a little high but all in all its a great place to visit and also to take pics and for kids to see

This zoo is the perfect size to walk around on an afternoon. You can buy food, souvenirs, gifts, become a member with season passes, help out even! Check it out!

Although it cannot compete with the big zoos like the one in St. Louis, Dickerson Park Zoo is an awesome place with a lot to see. It is well thought out, well kept and always full of people who just love seeing the animals or having a picnic.

Wonderfully laid out and perfect for the whole family! What makes this so unique are the Peacocks and Peahens roaming free throughout the grounds! My grandson was totally mesmerized, and I loved seeing them so up-close!

Dickerson Park Zoo is a nice small market zoo. There are year round activities like the Halloween Spooktacular and special free days for mom's, dad's and Veteran's on their respective days. There is a small cafe with typical fast food and a couple snack sheds on busy days, there is a small play area, a small train that takes a short trip through the zoo and and even a tiny splash area and water-misters for hot days. A decent selection of species from around the world, a petting zoo and some cute photo opportunities throughout the zoo. Our favorite spot is the elevated deck that allows you to feed the giraffes. While you won't get lost in this small zoo, it is a great place to spend a couple hours during nice weather.

If you don't have a good zoo by you or you've never been to a zoo, Dickerson Park Zoo can certainly be an interesting little zoo to visit if you are willing to pay their prices. However, a trip over to St. Louis, MO will get you to one of the nation's finest zoos without paying a penny to get in (although concessions are just as overpriced as at this zoo). The zoo in general is lacking in a lot, and one can't help but feel like the animals are equally unimpressed. In October, it becomes MUCH more interestingly haunted than in its normal state, but still: not exactly something to go out of your way to see in my opinion.

Lots of animals in a pretty setting. Lots of shade so it's even nice when it's hot out. For a small zoo they have done a wonderful job.

I was so close to the giraffe that I could stick my hand in the bars and pet it. Coolest experience of my life. Other then that its an OK zoo. What would you expect in Springfield MO? The Kansas city zoo is nicer and larger.

i found this zoo to be very lacking it had very few animals and they were spread so far appart by the time you found them you just want a soda and a seat but the restrant which you have to sit outside in the cold or heat and smell the animals while you try to eat and on top of that they charge you to get into the zoo unlike st louis zoo which is great a must see while in st louis,mo.so save time and money springfield,mo dickerson park zoo is a let down for kids of all ages. st louis zoo is free and it has sea lions and pinquins and a indoor place to grab a bite to eat and relax.

That is all this is. The Halloween was a big disappointment this year. Been here several times. And I will still go back.

I liked the zoo but needs a little work. Direction around the zoo need to be more clearer. We had fun & may go back again with family. Went when the zoo was set-up for Halloween, looks like fun for the kids.

I grew up going to this zoo but it took year for me to visit after the age of 10.. I went back last year and was surprised at all the changes. It had grown so much in some way but decreased in some. I still miss the gift shop over the water there where the train tracks are now. .

We have a membership to the St.Louis Zoo but find this small zoo more enjoyable. It is easy to walk around and even being small they have a wide variety of animals. It is easy to find and has a park in front to have a picnic lunch at. I feel at this zoo you are closer to the animals and they are more active than I have viewed before.
