We stopped here after we visited the adjacent wine tasting room. The beer was delicious and the service was excellent. We enjoyed talking to our bartender. During the week, the menu is limited but it was perfect for us because we just wanted a snack This place is right off I-44. Extremely accessible.

The Public House - St James location - is a wonderful addition to the local area. Better designed (size-wise) for live music than the Rolla location, and larger (to easily handle larger crowds). At least once you get inside. Was there early on a recent Friday evening - 7pm - and the Public House parking lot was full. The adjacent St James Winery parking lot was full. The parking lot of the adjacent meatpacking plant was full. There were people slogging through ankle-deep mud trying to get back to the Public House from where they had parked in a vacant lot down the frontage road. And that was before the band had even arrived. While the venue is larger with enough floor space for live music, the acoustics are still vintage steel building - put 150 people in there and it's going to be loud. Add music, and it's going to be even worse. The Public House-brewed beers are great. Their food is a work in progress (they're working up to a full menu as opposed to the sandwiches/cheese/hummus plates offered in Rolla). Wines are a step down from Rolla - all that's available are St James Winery offerings. Many people enjoy that, but I'm not one. They do have a nice array of whiskeys from which to choose. It's a nice place - just know they're not really set up to handle the big crowds on weekend nights. IMHO.

Great beer. Great atmosphere. Great bartenders who know their stuff. Located next to the St. James Winery - so there is stuff for everyone. My wife and I enjoyed their roast beef sandwich with their IPA. A superb serving of beef on this sandwich. The horseradish sauce is pleasant and not overpowering. Excellent chips. The IPA is hoppy and goes down smooth. We also enjoyed their Pale Ale. Perfect mild beer. We have taken our children to sit back and enjoy some time. This is not a bar but a great place to sit and relax. Kids are welcomed. Yes....we will return and absolutely bring our friends as well as recommend.

With a variety of seating arrangements, from a corner of couches and lounge chairs to the bar, round table and chairs and a patio, The Public House is a great place to meet with friends, family or business partners to relax, kick back with some awesome brews and even listen to a local band. The food is simple yet delicious, and an added bonus is the view into the actual brewing room! A must stop!
