our lady of the river

As a child we would always go to the Lady of the River and have picnics. Back in the day there was actually a very nice picnic area at the grounds of the Lady. We had a large family and would gather there with other relatives and bar-b-que for the day.Us children would spend the day running up and down the walk-way of the Lady.As I have now come up to the 50 year old mark, I still enjoy remembering all the fun we had as kids.Whenever I am feeling down, I still take drives down to the Ladyof the River and just sit and look out over the waters. It is quite relaxing, reminising over days of long ago.My dad was actually born and raised in Portage. So he would always have some stories to tell us as well.
