train and tracks held together with (literally) baling wire and duct tape. Ride at your own risk. Equipment is so old and worn out that it all needs to be scrapped, but owners have painted over the rust to make it look good. Tracks are very poor condition and they have routine maintenance program. they used to have an operating steam locomotive, but let that turn into a heap of rusty junk.

We belong to a dinner club and it was unanimous that this was our worst event ever. This New Year’s Mystery Dinner Theater Train Ride is nothing like described on their website. They own a 5 mile track and we went 5 miles and back during our 4 hr trip. It was the Polar Express; the heat didn't work, after 4 hours on this train we could not feel our toes. About an hour into this trip we all had out coats and gloves on for the duration of the trip. The acting left a lot to be desired, they read their parts from papers that they had folded in their pockets. When it came to figuring out who the murderer was we didn't know several of the actors/suspect because they never stopped by our table to share their clues. The food was just "OK," one person served 2 train cars so the food was cold by the time we got it. We had to ask for drink, ask for coffee to go with our dessert (coffee cake). Actors walked around with steaming hot coffee all night but we were not served any drinks after 2 hrs into a 4 hr trip. It's advertised that there will be a fireworks show at midnight; the fireworks are the same thing that you set off in your driveway for the 4th of July. The train itself is run down and in very poor shape, I used the bathroom and my heel went throught he floor. One hr into it we realized that we had 3 hrs to go and couldn't get off the train. We went into this with very low expectation but still thought it would be fun, and it was worse than we could of imagined! We downloaded games onto our phones and played games at our table. The woman in the booth by us fell asleep on her husbands shoulder for the second half of the trip. What a way to bring in the New Year.

We had 4 couples go on the adventurer and we all had fun. On this trip please know all of the characters are volunteers who want you to have a good time.

We had a great time on the iron mountain train. The engine is a old E-8 diesel engine. We did the dinner and play ride. They have local people as the actors on the train. The have a list of suspects for the play. If you call in a party of 6 or more for reservations you name may show up on the suspect list. Had a lot of fun and spent some quality time with friends. If you are in the area. This is a must do for fun. Call early for reservations as it fills up on the dinner trains. I know we will do this again.

I just finished the Santa Train ride with my 5 and 8 year olds. Terrific fun for both of my kids. First, Santa was awesome! This ride saved me from a mall Santa so we are already ahead. We will definitely do this again next year!

Everyone with the Railway was pleasant, fun, entertaining, and made the ride a great one. It was hot, but the staff made everyone as comfortable as possible, including offering watermelon at the little western town stop.

Just rode the train..... when we arrived (early) a man gave us a guided tour of all the cars and the museum and gift shop. When we started to go eat lunch he asked me if i wanted to see how the diesel engine worked...... WELL OF COURSE! He showed me inside and walked down both side next to the engines then showed me inside of the 12 cylinder engines.... I was impressed with his knowledge... that is when i found out he was the engineer. He asked me if i wanted to start the engines when it was time....OF COURSE I DID! and i did...Then the best part. He asked me and my wife to ride in the locomotive with him.... WOW! Best time ever. The restaurant there has the best pizza and subs ever.

We took our son and one of his friends for his birthday on this train ride. We had a great time. The train robbery could use a little work but over all it was lots of fun and the robbers were really funny at times. the robbers road the train back in the cars where all the passengers were and visited with everyone and took pictures with the kids. They had a coloring contest and the boys were given sord balloons. They sang happy birthday to our son and gave him a railroad spike that was painted. Yes the train is old and could use some work but people need to realize that this is ran strictly on volunteers and donations. A little imagination of what it use to be and a time gone by that was a way of life to be considered. The inside was nice and clean. There was a concession that didn't gouge you in price for a snack and a drink. One of the ladies told me that we could even have bought a pizza(pizza place there at station) if we wanted and brought it on the train. Or if we wanted to bring a picnic type lunch with us that was ok. The people we ran into were all very informative, friendly and just down right good people - what else could you ask for. You get out of the train ride what you put into it. Its not glamour by no means. Its a part of history that other train enthusiasts are trying to preserve. It was well worth our trip and we plan on going again. If you or your kids like trains, inexpensive fun for a few hours, its worth the time you spend with your family.

We went to ride with Santa and my kids loved it. It was a slow train ride but the volunteers kept us very entertained. We went 5 miles in 2 hours! The kids for to have hot chocolate, cookies, and played games. Got to sit on Santa's lap and got reindeer food to feed the reindeer. Very cute and well put together. We definitely do it again.

We took 100+ teenagers on the train ride for our yearly field trip. The teenagers had a great time and were entertained by the antics of the volunteers. They had a coloring contest, a train robbery, a stop at a pretend town, things to purchase, a singing competition, and a bubble blowing competition. It was a good day. We will be back.

What a fun thing to do. In Octtober they have haunted train rides and at Christmas. You can listen to a storey and have a visit with Santa for the little ones.

They used to have a real working steam train you could ride, now it's just a desiel locomotive pulling a few old cars. Not exciting, I can get on Amtrack and actually go some where but I want the nostalgia of the old time steam train back

Old, run down, unkept, boring, short ride. We couldn't wait for it to end.

Wonderful trip to see/ride this train operated by Volunteers. Delicious home cooked cupcakes, brownies, fudge, and cookies, along with chocolate candy, all provided free of charge! I had a great time, it was just myself and my husband, and I am a "low key" train fan. Got to tour and ride up in the cab with the engineer! The volunteers were very welcoming and thankful to the visitors. I would recommend it to families with kids for sure, low prices, friendly people, crayons at the table, a coloring contest for the kids with prizes, and birthdays were announced. There is a small museum also. The outside of the train shows it's age, but the inside is totally redone, and looks great! Trains only run on Saturday though.... The Name is actually, "St.Louis Iron Mountain Railroad"

Took my daughter and my nephews on it and they loved it. A great and fairly inexpensive afternoon for the family
