If there is one thing I love more than Detroit itself....it's the riverfront....I absolutely love the the river walk where you can rent bicylces for the entire family. There is a snack area and lounge chairs for lazy tanning in the sun. I love seeing all the different people that gather there just to enjoy the scenery or chill with family and friends. There is plenty to the stay occupied and it's mostly all free. This is my children and I main stop in the summer when we are bored at home.

Is a wonderful place to visit. The parking is as you would expect....a pain....but once parked, there are so many things to do and see. I especially love the Rocking the Riverfront days.

The riverwalk along the Detroit river is a must see if you are visiting Detroit. There are not many cities where the view to another country (Canada) is so close. The anchor of the riverwalk is the Renaissance Center and is home to some exceptional restaurants. Walking the length of the riverwalk will take about an hour.

Parking garage right at the gm bldg. across the street from the river walk, Its beautiful and well maintained. Well lighted although I wasn't there at dark but I could see all the lights. Nice to take some skyline photos of Canada at Windsor too.

It is a great place to walk, think and just look at the beautiful Detroit river. The apartments are just magnificent and when I lived here I never wanted to leave because the people mover was near by, joe louis arena and so many other downtown events. Still the fact that I had my own marketplace and own eatery made my stay better. However when I come back to visit I just love being there with my friends to enjoy the atmosphere.

We were in Detroit for half a day to catch a connecting flight to Europe and rented a car to drive around the city. Needless to say, we were very much surprised to see the city's decay. (Mind you, we were worn of this but seeing it with our own eyes and camera lens made it more impressionable). Driving around the city blocks surrounding the riverfront area you see abandoned warehouses and almost no human life. Literally, it felt like a post-nuclear war era was happening...you felt like you were on a movie set... Across the river, there was a stark contrast of Canada - beautiful and thriving. Pretty neat (very weir) experience of visiting Detroit. Recommend it you have a long airport layover, but don't make a special trip there to see it.

Here is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy your day! There is bike rental for riding, carousel ride, hot dogs and ice cream to eat. Fun place to go anytime of the year.

Though you may drive through some unsavory neighborhoods to get there this is the place to start if you want top show anyone the best side of Detroit. Park at the "Free Parking" between the city and Bell Isle, then walk towards the Renaissance Center, take a look at the GM display downstairs and one walk through the food court will tempt to you have lunch or dinner before you leave and save you tons on your meal downtown. Beautiful views of Windsor, Canada, and lots of police/security, you will feel safe and enjoy your time downtown. Even libraries the size of bird houses will bring you back, time and after time.

My son had fun riding his bike on the path and seeing the sights. It's very nice here and it's kept clean, which was a surprise to me. With such a big city I had feared that it would be trashy like NY, I was mistaken.

We took a driving tour of Lake Erie, Dearborn, Detroit, etc on a weekend during our visit to Detroit, and this was a noteworthy site. It's really nothing worth a special trip, but worth a stop to say you saw it if seeing other places downtown like Belle Isle, Ford Field, and some of the landmark buildings. To be fair, it was December and the place was not really bustling with activity, and it is part of the city. So it is what it is...have a look if you are that way.

If you like to walk and I do... Detroit's RiverFront walking path is the best place in the city to do this. It's a total of 3 miles (just under 5kms) of length from GM's Ren Cen to Belle Island. There are a few stops and photo points along the way and in warm weather then you can even hang out, but it's cold in November... Go enjoy it in the sprint time when it gets warm.

Detroit has struggled for years with its economy. And is fighting to bring this wonderful and historic city back to a thriving community, for businesses, for tourisim and for families. Visiting the city in November was encouraging because after our experience....we want to go back!!!

great waterfront activities and easy access to the park and surrounding places. Lovely shops and food vendors. Great people and places to enjoy.

It was a beautiful evening the night of our visit and it was pleasant to stroll along the waterfront. It's not super clean and it would be nice to have some eating options closer.
