I've been to this theatre 5 times, and the most recent time was to see Jackie Evancho. The other shows were 2 concerts of "Radio City Christmas Spectacular," a "Sesame Street Live performance, and an Il Volo concert!

Buying tickets from the fox theatre is not worth it...especially when they are not giving you the best seats available and your paying your had earned money for good seats... Hello ticketmaster!!!

Walking into this place is like walking into a dream. Gorgeous architecture and stunning renovations. I was there for a music concert but was more taken away and impressed by the building. Jaw dropping interior beauty. Intricate sculptures built into the walls and ceiling. Truly meditative and almost spiritual art deco. During the concert there was lots of booze for sale in the hallways near the bathroom and people were getting very inebriated among the very steep and circling staircases. It made me very nervous and the night was capped off with an intoxicated man falling and being taken away by ambulance in near death state. It seems irresponsible for the theater to allow sales of alcoholic drinks to go on throughout an entire concert (don't they usually stop serving after intermission?) I am aware that it is not the theater to blame, but it something to consider. The night started out lovely and ended feeling quite tragic. Go for the building, I bet it's like nothing you have ever seen in this country.

We went to see a concert. The venue is so lovely. The concert was great, but I could just sit and look at this building. So very, very well restored. They have a lot of staff to help you find your seat. I don't like the fact that you can purchase food and drinks to eat in the seats, it isn't a movie theater. But I suppose it is the sign of the times. Going to the Fox is a beautiful experience. Check out the restrooms-they are lovely, too!!

The good: Breathtaking theater and the performance of the Russian Ballet The Nutcracker was absolutely spectacular and really added to our Christmas holiday. We sat in the Mezzanine balcony and it was great to have a bar and bathroom right there. Great view of the stage below. Much better seats than the main floor and less expensive. Now the bad: The elderly ladies who checked our tickets right on the ramp to the mezzanine seats were EXTREMELY rude. Hey, Mr. Ilitch, hire real ushers. No excuse for this. I hope they are volunteers as I cannot imagine them being paid for being so brash. The steps in the front mezzanine where we sat are very steep and we saw many older people really struggling. Most had be helped up and down so they didn't fall. I feel this should be disclosed when purchasing seats in this area. It's a huge issue.Bathrooms are small of course because it's an old theater. Only 6 stalls and one was out of order. Made for very long lines.Another tip: Park across the street in the parking lot facing Comerica Park. Easy in and out. Parking structures are a nightmare and it takes forever to get out after the show.

You must get to the theater AT LEAST 30 minutes early due to long, poorly organized, and cold lines to get into the building and through security. I learned this the hard way the last time I saw a show at the Fox and so got there very early today for the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker (disappointing show). Long wait, metal detectors, purses searched (is this the Ballet or WWF?!), found my seat in plenty of time. Great.Or not. I missed the first 13 minutes of the show--entirely--because the show started before everyone was seated. Even worse, there was a traffic jam in the isle where people were waiting for the usher to escort them to their seats which completely blocked any view of the stage. Very frustrating and distracting--and poor management. I'm done with the Fox, which makes me a little sad because it is such a great, historic building.

One of the best places to see a concert or performance. Great acoustics in a gorgeous building. May be one of the best in the country. Have seen a handful of concerts here and have enjoyed it every time. Worth a stop even if just to see it. Ideally, you could catch a great musician here. Bigger on the inside then it looks and that classic old school theater feel. Known well enough that you tend to get some great artists in town.

We were at the front door at 7:15pm for an 8:00pm show Saturday Dec. 13, 2014. The featured star was Terry Fator. His show was terrific. The theatre service was terrible. We finally got seated at 8:15pm and the show was already started. We were seated in the 3rd row from the stage in the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in. It took us 45min to leave the parking deck. Another 25min to get to the expressway. I won't be back. When you pay 600.00 dollars for two tickets, you expect better.

We haven't been to the Fox Theater in several years. They are now scanning (think airport). We stood in line outside the theater in the cold waiting to get through the scanner. I didn't quite understand it either since our purses were passed outside the scanner to an usher as we walked through the scanner. What's the point of that? I could have had anything in my purse! (Of course I didn't but I could have.). Immediately after the scan, another usher was scanning tickets. This made it doubly congested. The ticket scanners should have been away from the body scanners. When we finally got through we raced to the bathroom and when we got back to the entrance to the seats, there weren't enough ushers. We waited and waited for an usher to seat us.By the time we got to our seats we had missed two songs! I'm guessing there were at least 100 people in a similar situation. Maybe more? Even after we were seated lots of people were being ushered in.We got there 15 min early. Normally we would get there earlier but we took a wrong turn. Nevertheless the theater should have been arranged and staffed appropriately to process us before the show started. Or since there were so many people backlogged they should have held the show til we were seated. This is only a comment about the theater. The concert was delightful.

Just a beautiful, restored historic theater. Great place to see a play and have a night out. Surrounding area has a lot of drink and dining options also

From the days when it was a movie theater to a run down, water filled building to a gem in downtown Detroit. Definitely worth a visit even if the show/concert is not one of your favorites.

The event was awesome! The Fox Theater is a beautiful place!! The staff was helpful and very friendly. The event started pretty close to on time. Food and drinks are pretty expensive, which is expected. The bathrooms were clean and there were plenty. Parked in the lot around the block for $15. Leaving tokl a long time from the 5th floor and had to use the stairs to get back to car.

The Fox is a great venue. We have gone there many times over the years since it was refurbished for concerts and plays, and rarely have we encountered issues. Those issues we have encountered have almost always been people who are in a hurry and do not seem to understand that a large amount of people is try to get through a fairly narrow corridor. Or they don't care. Take your pick.

One of the best places to see a show - whether it be a play or a concert. Amazing, spectacular, beautiful, ornate. Such an impressive venue. Truly a gem of the city of Detroit. I recently saw Stomp there with my wife and son and it was just incredible. The sound, the sights - everything just wonderful! The Fox theatre never disappoints. I have been there many times over the years and it is simply one of the best theatres anywhere. Not big, just right. Not dark, colorful and vibrant. Not cold, but warm with color and design. A feast for the eyes. The audio quality is outstanding and there's not a bad seat anywhere in the place.Do yourself a favor and go see anything at the Fox. I'm looking forward to going back real soon. I just love that place!

Saw Jack White's hometown concert here and could not have had a better experience. The acoustics were lovely and the venue was magnificient.
