There is a ton of great Art. You would not expect such well exhibited Museum in a city the size of Muskegon. Come and you will be amazed.

This museum has a wide and varied collection of world famous art from the Master's to things you could see in the Guggenheim or Louvre. Extensive, beautiful glass collection. Traveling shows exhibits are wonderful. Gift shop offers usual items from jewelry to children's toys, always facinating finds are possible.

I'm prejudiced because I used to be a docent at the Muskegon Art Museum, but it's a real find. For a town the size of Muskegon the museum has art that would be at home in a city five times its size. There's a great diversity of works and a constantly changing exhibit so go often! And the museum shop has lovely items for sale, most made by area artists.

Beautiful fine art. Classes often available. Gift shop with many very unique items. (Formerly Hackley Art Gallery - one of the many things that lumber baron, Charles Hackley started in Muskegon.) Many awesome displays.

This is a small buy enjoyable art Museum. Only $5. Worth a stop if in the Muskegon area. The most famous painting is the Tornado Over Kansas by Jon Steuart Curry. Lots of interesting pieces. The museum has different exhibits. We enjoyed Buster Keaton's Bluffton. Bluffton is an area of Muskegon near lake Michigan. Free on Thursdays. Small gift shop, friendly staff.

Local and regional art show, special traveling exhibits, a highly regarded permanent collection , plus weekend activities for adults and kids most of the year. A great rainy day tourist stop or just a chance to get off the beach and out of the sun.

There were only three main galleries and three special exhibit rooms (one of which was empty), but we spent a very nice hour-90 minutes enjoying and discussing the art. The staff was very friendly. Only a few other guests on a Sunday afternoon.

Free admission on Thursday and I saw a fabulous free movie ("Objectify" - about product design). The museum has a large quantity of art created by women and art created by African Americans. I so appreciate that they don't make a big fuss over either and let these extraordinary works speak for themselves. The collection of contemporary paintings is fantastic. I was extremely impressed and had only planned to stop in... then I got pulled into the art. Greg is a very helpful guard who answered many of my questions about the works and Muskegon. It's a gem!

For a relatively small museum the work presented there was very nice. Great variety of work from contemporary to classical. We were there for an up and coming artist, Andrea Kowch's first museum exhibition and they treated the show with class and elegance. The work was hung in a great space and the lecture afterwards was informative. We applaud the museum for taking risks with a young artist like this! The MMA is a quiet gem that deserves more praise and was quite progressive in their vision. We will be back to see more!

This museum was a wonderful surprise. We happened in on Thursday, when admission is free, so we spent the equivalent at the lovely gift shop. The collection is impressive and was extremely well curated. For us, it was just the right size. Worth a trip, but not overwhelming.

Beautiful space, Nancy Crow textiles, which are always breath-taking, and a helpful, friendly staff. Having lived in Boston, and just outside D.C., I've been to many museums, including the National Museum, New York Metropolitan, etc. While there is nothing like standing 10' from a Monet, which you can literally lose yourself in...and also takes your breath away, I was not sure if I should have high expectations for this show or not. This little gem of a museum is FANTASTIC! There were a number of artists that I was not familiar with, but were really interesting - Nick Cave, Joan Livingston & Arturo Sandoval, to name a few. The building is beautiful, the show was really lovely, and the entire facility is clean, well-run, and well-staffed. Kudos! I will purposefully look for reasons to come back to this area! Also, just an fyi, while there is normally a nominal fee for admission...Thursdays are free.
