Avalanche Bay was a great add to Boyne Mountain. It's a nice break for kids from skiing; and gives you almost that "beach" atmosphere at a ski resort! I have to say that as far as pure water parks go, my kids prefer Great Wolf Lodge slightly over Avalanche Bay, but if you are in the Boyne area and looking for an alternative to outside activities, definitely give Avalanche Bay. Try!!

We took our 5 and 7 year-olds to Avalanche Bay when it was too cold to ski last week. They both love to swim, and we went to Blizzard Beach at Disney last year, so they have experienced the water park thing before. Unfortunately, they were not big fans of constantly being splashed in the face, and it took a while for them to get over it. They spent most of their time in the pools and hot tub (could have done that at the hotel for free!), and it was PACKED, even though we went on a Sunday afternoon. Once they got settled in, they did have a great time, but I don't think we'll go back unless we are really at a loss for what to do.

The waterpark had a nice variety of slides. The slide where the bottom door drops out was closed during our visit and my nephew was injured on it before it was closed, beware. However, the locker room was very dirty and there were several people wearing their winter boots in the waterpark. I felt this caused the floors to feel gritty. Compared to other waterparks I have visited I was really disappointed in the cleanliness. Also, to get decent food you had to go in the bar which is also used by the skiers and is cold. If it wasn't for the ski hill I would visit other, cleaner waterparks in the state.

It was too cold for us to ski so we played at Avalanche Bay! This was our first experience at an indoor water park, and we would definitely recommend it. Short lines (and sometimes nonexistent!) for the water slides. Plenty of room to play in the Kitz Pool and the Lazy River. My 4 year old and I had a great time. You can bring your child's floatie as long as it is coast guard approved. Lifeguards were plentiful. They seemed to take their jobs seriously and had frequent rotations of locations. Only regret- Wish I had brought flip flops for use in the locker rooms. I cringe to even think about the slimy floors we walked across! Ick!

I took my daughter and her friends to Avalanche Bay for her birthday on February 15th. 2015. We purchased the tickets online and drove three hours to get to their facility, when I arrived at 3:30pm. I talked to Mike a supervisor there about the air quality in the park, he assured me there was no problem it was caused by the large number of people in the facility. They went into play while I checked in our hotel room, at 4:30pm. I received a call from my daughter that they shut the park down. Because of the malfunction of the oxygen scrubber that monitors the air quality in the park, they refunded my credit card and I could not find Mike since he left since the air quality affected him, but apparently he thought it was good enough to leave the children in. I called and talked to Mathew the manager of the Hotel and he assured me he would have the water park director follow up and make it right with me, but never called back. They clearly are not focused on how they treat their customers, two of the girls left with headaches and bloodshot eyes for the experience. Save your money and go somewhere else as when things go bad they don't really care. Scott

Took our kids and grandkids for a family adventure to Avalanche Bay Waterpark and had a good time. Slides were great. Lazy river was good. Food was great (pizza was a lot better than we expected as was the other food). Took a long time to get checked in (slow clerk who didn't know how to charge some rates and a manager who waited too long to step in and help). Locker rooms were a mess and were not clean. Locker charges $.25 per use and had to wait 5 minutes to get change at the main desk. Would come back again in warm weather but not use the locker room.

This is great place for family members of all ages. We stayed in the remote cabins near this water park for three or four nights in August and couldn't be more pleased with all be discovered off season. For the kids there was zip-lining, biking and water sports. The adults enjoyed the wonderful spa, riding to ski lift to a quaint bar, and hot tubbing under the stars. The water park was fun for all ages. The Lazy river kept family members busy for hours. The waterslides were just right for enough thrill for the adults and kids. The surf bowl and even the racing slide were unexpected fun to involve all ages. The kiddie section kept the little ones busy for hours. The grounds and the water park were very clean and well organized. The staff was very cheerful and the lifeguards were on top of their game. I would trust them with my kid!

If you are familiar with Indoor Water Parks, such as Great Wolf Lodge, then you already know everything you need to know about Avalanche Bay.Great for the kids, it makes the trip to Boyne Mountain like two trips in one.Highly Recommended!

I have been here many times and haven't had a bad experience. We live by a Great Wolf Lodge. However, they don't offer day passes so taking trips up to Avalanche Bay is a must and definitely worth it.

We decided to spend a long weekend and we made sure that the kids had a whole day plus some just for the A.B. After being around to the other waterparks in Michigan, A.B. is the best by far. It's clean, warm, and has something for everyone. Staff is helpful. Had a hard time getting the kids out of there! One thing to look out for: prices are nuts.

Great indoor waterpark, good temperature, fun place for the family! We went for a few hours in the morning, took and afternoon break and returned late afternoon. Little pricey though.

Avalanche Bay is a very nice water park. My kids are all young (under 4), and fortunately they have access to 75% of the park. There is a large area dedicated to toddlers with a shallow swimming pool, basketball hoops, and playscape with a slide and various interactive spray guns, valves, etc. The kids had a blast and would have been content to just hang out in the toddler area all day, but the nice part of Avalanche Bay is you also take your toddlers down all but 1 slide. There are two huge slides using inner tubes, and you can take them down on a double tube. This was such a thrill for them! To go from the dinky 8 foot toddler slide to the big boy slide made their day.The facility is very clean, with plenty of rest room/changing room space (including a couple large family changing rooms). The staff is friendly and the life guards are attentive. The couple of times I've been here, there is also plenty of seating and the lines weren't too long. There is a small cafe where you can eat lunch or get a snack (including beer for the parents!).We will definitely be back next year!

This park has it all. Well worth the time to travel and the money. This indoor water park has something to do for all ages. Well worth every penny!!
