We went on a Saturday to see the Lego Art of the Brick exhibit. The exhibits were wonderful, but the museum is possibly the filthiest I have visited. The food court area had trash everywhere, the tables were dirty with trash on them. The bathrooms were the same, water and toilet paper everywhere. Not sure if they were understaffed. But for as much as we paid to get in, I shouldn't be afraid to sit down!

My oldest son was taking a class at the Institute, so my younger son & I decided to see a movie to pass the time. A ticket to the IMAX theater cost $9 each for a 45 min show, Ice Age. Overpriced, but what the heck it would pass the time. The desk said snacks were allowed in the movie, so we picked up a snack & went inside. First, the seats are old and the floors had more gum than carpet. Then while waiting for the movie to start, a grey MOUSE ran by! My son & I were shocked!! Gross, Franklin Institute. This is a place for children, to have rodents is just unsanitary. My 5 yr old was unsettled by it & thought the mouse would jump on him to steal his snack. I told him it was just looking for crumbs on the floor & it wouldn't bother him. He kept looking for the darn thing through the whole movie. It is a shame because I really like the museum & the movie was very interesting. They need to clean up their act a little.

Had been to philly before and never went in, but this time we did and so glad. There is a special Lego exhibit there now ( I think it stays until September). Absolutely riveting! The institute is a hands on science museum good for kids and for adults. Definitely something to include on your next trip to Philly.

Our main purpose of this visit was to see the exhibit by the very talented artist, Nathan Sawaya, titled "The Art of the Brick". After having the pleasure of viewing his works of (lego) art in New York City, we couldn't wait to see his new works in Philadelphia. Our son was captivated by his latest renditions of lego art in a "real life" photograph. From a distance the images look so life-like that one couldn't distinguish between real and lego! Being a middle school science teacher, I was equally impressed with the walk through heart that accurately labeled the blood flow throughout the heart. Hands on stations for children and adults. Newton's demonstrations on gravity is ideal to test your coordination, as well as, the "sports" area to challenge your dexterity. Great time for all members of your family.

We went to see the art of the brick and it was truly amazing. Nathan Sawaya is just incredible. That said it was $111 for 2 adults and 2 kids to get to see it. It was super crowded and I felt rushed to get through because people just kept coming in.

Great IMAX theater. 3D theater very comfortable. Exhibits hands-on and very educational (and some were even lots of fun). I didn't get to see the "Bricks" exhibit but I will come back. The smiles and looks of awe on the faces of children and many adults tell more about the Franklin Institute than any words I can type. I liked it so much I became a member even though I live in NYThe only complaints I have is that despite their EDU web site, they don't have a student discount and there is no Senior discount. Older folks like me also like visiting and having fun.

Just spent a rainy weekday afternoon at the Franklin and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Found street parking within one block and viewed the Lego and Animals Inside Out exhibits with no crowds at all. My daughter was captivated by theee exhibits and we both were glad we had spent the price of admission to see and take pictures at such unusual displays. It was not cheap, but well worth the drive into Philly.

We visited the Franklin Institue twice over the Christmas break. The first time we arrived early and were able to park at the Museum. Our second visit was a little later in the day and their parking garage was full. They directed us to another lot which was also full. After a frustrating half hour we finally found parking. We took our grandons ages 6-15. The younger boys enjoyed themselves but our oldest grandson enjoy it as much. The planetarium shows are good. We watched an eye and heart be dissected which were a little gory but informative.

We caught the #33 bus from JFK Plaza and after only a few stops arrived at the Franklin Institute. Due to inclement weather this site was not at all crowded and we were able to quickly browse the various exhibits. Highights were seeing one of the original Wright Flyer models, visiting a Planetarium Show and seeing the Imax movie on Jerusalem. We caught the #38 bus right out in front back to our hotel just as the weather started changing with a wintry mix. All personnel at the museum were friendly, helpful, and courteous and we enjoyed the time we spent there.

Definitely a must for a family trip. Our kids are ages 6 months to 15 and they each enjoyed a different part. If you are visiting the city this is a must do.
