Having lived in a historical part of our country for almost all my life, I found it amazing how much history there is and how things tie together when you take the time to visit the West Chester Historical Society. I found it to be very enlightening. Excellent!

The history that you can get here is pretty decent, but I guess I was expecting more. There is a cute kids section, and it's nice to see old maps of Chesco, but all in all I was expecting more.

This is a very interesting local museum. There is a lot of information about early Chester county. It is a fun place for someone like me who grew up in the area.

I couldn't believe the quality of the clothing-- beautifully preserved and such attention to details made the exhibit a must-see.

I've been here twice on field trips with my second grade class. CCHS is a local gem. You will learn about furniture making, colonial toys and more. The best part of CCHS is the walking tour of town. After living in West Chester for over 25 years, I discovered incredible things about our wonderful town. West Chester is one of the most historically preserved towns in America. The architect who designed much of our town, also designed the Capitol in D.C. You'll find out about look ups, leftovers and the underground railroad. Go to the CCHS.

You won't regret a trip to the CCHS. Great for a winter/rainy day. So many interesting exhibits. Gust go. Really worth the price of admission.

We hosted our son's wedding rehearsal dinner and cocktail party here during the "storm of the century"! Despite the snowstorm and the threat of power outage the event went off without a hitch. Our guests had access to the awesome little museum with a very helpful docent. When the DVD player acted up during our slideshow, Tara went above and beyond to connect a laptop so that we could finish the show.Arranging the details from 2000 miles away was made easy by Tara. We could tell we were in the hands of pros.A special "shout out" to Jimmy Duffy's catering staff who were top notch. The food was delicious despite the fact that cooking was done outside in a cook tent with 4 foot snow drifts surrounding!A giant Thank You to CCHS and Jimmy Duffy's for turning a potential disaster into a wonderful event!

This is an amazing little museum. The exhibits delight the eye and are well captioned, so that I could learn why the object were significant. The costume collection is nationally known. I was particularly struck by the quality of the gift shop: there were many unusual local history books, and all the souvenirs were well-made and instructive. Even the tote bags had decorations which taught me something!

I disagree with the easy parking in an earlier post --adequate is more accurate to me--a parking garage 1/2 block away which is overpriced to me --I paid 7-8 dollars to park while I had lunch --there may be free time --Sat maybe? There is a little on street parking and a small parking lot nearby --West Chester has parking issues--a college town and a lot of homes dont have garages ergo they park on the street--a few years back a lot of parking was reserved for residents so watch of those signs --they are smallish ---the museum itself while small is well done --the library is separate and very good --for family history its a dont miss --you dont appreciate the library until you visit other local county facilities --head and shoulders above ones I have visited

For those of you that would like to see how big historical events (e.g., the Civil War) affected people on the local level. For those who'd like to have substrate for High School students preparing for National History Day presenations. For those who delight in seeing how the artifacgts that were the stables of peoples daily lives as a way of connecting to your ancesters from 100-200 years ago. The CCHS is a local gem. You don't have some of the big historical artifacts that you'd find at a state or national museum but the quality of restoration and preservation is excellent.

This is a small museum that has some very interesting information including local agriculture, the history of local abolitionism, and furniture. We wanted more and were sorry that the clothing exhibit was not up yet. My daughter loved the hoopskirt in the kids dress up area.

The exhibits are easy to navigate and informative. There's a lot of interesting information on the Underground Railroad in Chester County.
