Swipe Credit card for entry, not for Senior Citizens! Great Overlook if you can make the climb! Scenery is Breathtaking from this view!

Lots of stairs but when you walk up to the tower, you will clearly know your choice. If you are able to make the stairs to the top, the view is incredible. The tower looks shaky but it is very stable. There is a $3 charge - credit card only. The credit card scanner is a bit shaky looking and weathered. There were a few people that were hesitant on using it for fear their credit card information would be stolen. I took the risk because the $$ is used to help maintain the tower. It was great and I would do it again!

Liked looking out over the pretty colors of Fall. You can go there and enjoy the fresh air and just being out in the middle of know where.

It was a bit difficult to find this, but we did. This tower is down a long road going into the woods. There is a machine that you must pay $3 per person. There is no cash accepted only credit cards. They really should advertise that somewhere out on the signs rather than surprise people when they show up.You don't see any views of the canyon at the top of this tower, but you can see mountains, farmland, and natural views for miles around. If you enjoy panoramic views of nature from high above you might want to check it out.I like going to the top of Rockefeller Center in New York. If you would like the same experience only in a country setting, you will probably like this. Just make sure you are able to climb a lot of stairs, because there are a lot!

We drove approximately 1 mile in on potholes in the middle of the woods to a rusty turnstile, and a credit card machine! They wanted you to swipe your card for $3 a person to climb up an old, rusted out Fire tower. Don't waste your time.

I don't normally post a review of something I didn't do, but we saw two huge billboards advertising this tower. There was no address listed and the billboard seemed old with vegetation growing over them, but we thought we'd give it a try. We didn't see any other signs or directional information and after taking various different turns and backtracking for over 1/2 an hour we finally gave up. After seeing that other reviewers said it took a credit card, I'm glad I didn't find it.

The road leading to the tower was in poor condition. When my husband and I finally arrived to the base of the tower, there was a sign asking for a dollar. Just swipe your credit card...no way!!!

Down a long, not well maintained dirt road, we finally see the tower. Attached to it is a camper that has seen better days and a sign explaining how to pay. Pay? No where on the signs getting there does it say there is a charge. Since the towers in Gettysburg were free we just assumed. Needless to say the creepy meter was on red alert and we drove out expecting to be part of a scary movie.

Probably the best part of our visit - especially for the kids. Not advertised except a billboard on side of road. We climbed up and the view was amazing - would be spectacular in the fall! A little hard to find but worth it.

We stumbled across this while staying at a campground. We have been traveling to this area for many years and we're not aware of this tower. It is well hidden and a beautiful drive up to it. The views are spectacular. The history of the tower and the views from its winding perch are well worth the trouble to seek it out.

This place is not well advertised. We learned about it from an ancient billboard nearby at the PA Grand Canyon....its down the road and out of the way...tucked back among some campgrounds and homes...you come to a field and see it immediately, a very large metal structure,...and there is a barred roundy round gate attached to a trailer....its kinda like a scene from a horror movie...you fully can picture yourself yelling at the screen to not be an idiot...run away....lolBut,if you brave the odd and out of the way you will come to the gate that takes credit cards only, you stand and wiggle the gate, swipe your card, and wait for the magical mechanical voice to tell you to enter...once in, you climb...and climb, and climb...the bonus, small kids can pretty safely climb these steps without the heart attack of fearing they will lean over or fall....once at the top, there is a bench to enjoy your triumph,..and very magical views....well worth the 3 bucksthen its back down and through the rhododendrons to escape the weird gate...a bit of the towers history is this...As of 2007 this observation tower has been in existence for over 100 years. First built and assembled in 1906 it was located on Mount Joy , Valley Forge PA. Overlooking where George Washington and troops spent the winter of 1776-1777, the turning point of The War For Independence. In 1988 the tower was dismantled, moved, repaired and reassembled. The Tower now resides on the ridge of Pine Creek Gorge known as The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. The tower now overlooks beautiful PA Grand Canyon Countryside with a panoramic view (360 degrees) of the surrounding land. The Over Look Tower is around 2100 feet above sea level. It towers above the ground approximately 100 feet. There are about 125 steps to the observation deck. The view is for miles on a clear day. The Observation Tower is open to visitors from sunrise to sunset weather permitting.
