merril creek reservoir

Merrill Creek Reservoir is a beautiful back-to-nature location. The 650-acre man-made reservoir is surrounded by a 290-acre "Environmental Preserve" and 2000 additional acres of woods and fields with hiking trails throughout. The modern Visitor Center is a fun place for kids (and adults) to learn about the environment of this region.My friends and I did a short 3 mile hike during the late afternoon when it was comfortable and cool. We actually concluded our hike in the dark but not before enjoying a magnificent sunset reflecting in the waters of the expansive reservoir.**NOTE--For an extra special treat hike the entire perimeter trail (approx 5 1/2 miles) and walk across the top of the main dam--a truly thrilling sight!Besides hiking there is boating, fishing as well as hawk and eagle sightings! Merrill Creek Reservoir is fun for an individual or an entire family during any season of the year.

This is in NJ, not PA. It is a beautiful reservoir tucked away in NW NJ. It has a few hiking trails and a couple of nice areas for fishing.
