Shenango Lake is our family's favorite place to camp, fish and water ski. Run by the Army Corps of Engineers, it's a great facility with flush toilets and showers which are cleaned daily by a cleaning service. The Army Corps gang are really great & very knowledgeable. We ski, fish and enjoy the surrounding nearby restaurants when not cooking at our campsite. We've been enjoying this facility for over 35 years, now we're taking our grandson there too!

Went boating on the Shenango Reservoir in Mercer County PA about 1 1/2 hours north of Pittsburgh. This is a water control lake operated by the Army Corp of Engineers. It isn't commercially developed. There is a marina with boat docks and 3 public access boat ramps around the lake but there are virtually no houses. Although I haven't explored the access, there were lots of camping available around the lake and lots of places to pull up a boat and picnic. We were in a 24 footer and there were lots of bigger boats so there doesn't seem to be a restriction on motor size as plenty of people were skiing and tubing. The lake is big 3500 acres according to Wikipedia and has plenty of little coves and inlets to pull up in and swim or fish. Caught a couple of nice fish, saw half dozed blue cranes and I think an eagle. There is a section of lake which was no wake so it was quiet and peaceful there. Nice afternoon.Lake is accessible off interstate 80 near the Ohio border, Boat access area that we used, had modern bathrooms and adequate parking for truck and trailer, but be careful how you park as it gets crowded and we were almost blocked in when it was time to leave. Only $3 to launch the boat.
