Checked the website and called ahead to verify operation times. When we arrived it was closed! And clearly had been for weeks. How come they can't update either their phone, nor website. Frankly, if they can't manage their sales and promotion...can you trust them with maintenance, service, safety?

Lived here in johnstown most of my life and had a chance to ride the incline ..... Was a great and enjoyable experience that I'd love to do again.

Great view from the top of the mountain to the valley below. Can take your car and ride one way or ride down and back up.

Great experience with a beautiful view of the city and Asiago's at the top is a great place to eat or just have a cocktail.

Im originally from Johnstown. So i always recommend seeing the place and riding it either up and down. As always, my car rode too. A cheap thrill and a real piece of history no one should miss while in PA!!!!

Johnstown Pennsylvania has a unique way to evacuate the town in case of another flood. Early in the 20th Century the town was flooded when the South Fork Dam broke and sent water rushing to the town below. Total devastation and many lives lost. The Incline Plane was installed to get many people or two vehicles up the mountain side to safety in quick fashion. Today, it continues to transport residents and tourists. An excellent restaurant awaits at the top for dinning while overlooking a breathtaking view of the city. Many childhood memories of Christmas Shopping in "the city" came back on my recent visit. Too bad Glosser Brothers, and Penn Traffic have closed due to the big box stores. This experience can not be duplicated in many larger mountainous cities. A fee is charged, but it is well worth a few bucks to take a ride back in time!

It was a short ride but you got great views of the valley and town below. The Incline was very steep and that's what it's famous for.

we visited johnstown in the summer in the only day the Incline was broken. Dined at the awesome restaurant, Asiagos, at the top of the incline. Decided it was worth a trip back to dine after dark to see the view and ride the incline. You can take your vehicle up on the incline bug we decided to ride up and back down (after diner). Othe young girl who was the ticket attendant was very helpful and knowledge! Senior (65) or military are free. $4.00 per person otherwise! There is a small enclosed area w/a bench that you can sit but we chose to stand and watch the view ( no vehicles with our trip). After another superb meal, we were treated to a huge full moon on the horizon over the twinkling lights of the city!!! Awesome view!!! A must see and do if you are in the area!!!!

The incline goes up and down every 15 minutes. There is a nice restaurant up top (Tuscan Italian food), and the gift/snack shop is nice. It was extremely cold and windy the day I went up so I couldn't linger long at the lookout area, but it is amazing. The staff were a bit impersonal and lacking with directions on what I was supposed to do (where to pay, where to wait, how to get on, when it would leave, etc.)

Rode here on my motorcycle from Warren, Ohio just to ride the incline. It was well worth it. Awsome view over looking the city.

I have been riding the Incline plane since I was young. The view is awesome from the top, looking out over the city. Now that they have lights on the Stone Bridge, it is really cool at night. I was at the restaurant last week in the evening for a social event & the city looked cool all lite up.

Fun for those who have never ridden an inclined plane before. My husband, brother and I had fun riding it to the top. Excellent restaurant at the top.

11-1-14 This is a great ride in which to see an unobstructed view of Johnstown. The cost is 4.00 for those under 65 and over 65 free. Cars 6.00. Parking is free at the bottom by the river. Asiago's is a great restaurant to eat at when you get to the top. You can see all the gears and pulleys for the tram at the top and there is a souvenir shop at the top too. Tram runs every 15 min I believe. A must do when in Johnstown.

I have a crippling fear of heights and was scared out of my mind to do this. But it is a fear I am trying to conquer. The attendant was so nice and accommodating and he and my husband talked me into it. I am very glad they did. Yes, I was scared. But, I would definitely do it again.

The Johnstown Inclined Plane is an amazing way to get both passengers and vehicles from the Westmont area to downtown Johnstown. The view from the top is truly awesome, and the ride down in great fun, especially if you have kids with you. I have ridden it with my grandson several times, and he never gets tired of watching the other car come towards you and waving to the passengers as they pass. If you are going to be in Johnstown, you really owe it to yourself to experience this at least once in your lifetime!
