It's a must see if your in this neck of the woods. So rich with History, and information that the whole family can enjoy. Well worth the visit.

Visited here for the first time this past summer. I did it on my own but feel it would have been beneficial to have a guided tour or something to that affect. There is also walking trails around the park.

We stopped here to break up a long ride and stretch our legs - and we love history! The battle that took place here is historically significant and our boys are studying the French Indian War in middle school. I don't believe the tour we had would have been half as good without the tour guide, Mr. Perry. He was intelligent, extremely knowledgeable, and engaging with enthusiasm and a great love of history. I'm giving it a 4 instead of a 5 because it is small and not yet polished. However, it's getting there. If I could have rated our tour guide alone, Mr. Perry, he'd get a 5 plus.

Bushy Run was a battle between British and Indian forces in 1763-over 250 years ago. This still rural location is attractive with trees and meadows. Their brochure said the park would be open at 9, but when we arrived about 10 on a Sunday we found the time had been pushed back to noon. Fortunately a very friendly and helpful volunteer took us on a golf cart tour, noting the events that took place, and then convinced another volunteer to open the museum early. It's modest but informative about the battle and clash of cultures on what was then the frontier. It's a pleasant site and informative exhibit, but be sure to call ahead to confirm hours of operation.

This is a nice place to visit on the weekend if you got nothing else to do! The battlefield is nice to walked away and tour and the museum part is nice and very informative. The programs they hold to are awesome as well.

visited as growing up...even borrowed some flowers for prom decorations! If you enjoy relaxing and learning some important history visit the battlefield.

Beautiful fields with well placed trees and 2 monuments. We took our dog and walked her through the battlefield area. Nice stroll with pretty surroundings. Small museum was closed. Nice information about the British fighting the Indians and their march to fort Pitt. Short but sweet.

For years I saw the signs for the Bushy Run battlefield. I finally took my 12 year old son. It was just a day trip for us to get away. We both enjoyed our visit. We parked the car and briefly walked around then entered the visitor center/ museum/ gift shop. I was told that the state no long funds the site so most is maintained by volunteers and the historical society. I paid our very minimal fee to tour the museum which included a recently updated theater room and educational movie on the events that took place. Also included was a guided tour by golf cart. The guide, sorry I can't remember his name, was wonderful and very knowledgable! Plus he also said he would dress up as a Reenactor! A demonstration of the rifle used during the battle was given and I must say they all did a very good job of Describing what took place there! There was also a very strong sense of pride in the job they did and in showing off the new monument! My son and I were very pleased with our visit and would highly it to any history buff!!

During a business trip that I brought the family along on in New Stanton, I was looking for something to do in the evening that was outdoorsy and educational. The visitor center was really nice... lots of nice artifacts, a movie about the history of the land, and helpful people onsite (some really sweet boys gave us some great info!). After we walked through the visitor center and got a feel for what took place, we ventured out to the trails to walk where the battle took place. After watching the movie, we all had goosebumps thinking about what took place on that same land 250 years ago. I really wish we would've been in town a week later so we could have enjoyed the reenactment! I bet it will be incredible! The trails were shaded and really nice, and I got some great photos. Nature and history at it's best! Well worth the stop!

We stopped at Bushy Run on the last day of our trip and I must say that this battlefield site is an unknown jewel to everyone. The scenery itself is gorgeous, and the tour guides are very knowledgeable. We learned a lot and there are many things to do other than the initial tour of the battlefield. There is a picnic pavilion for packed lunches, hiking trails, a museum with interesting artifacts and replicas, as well as plenty of information. The museum and tours are run by volunteers, and your tour is in a golf cart, and admission is only $5.00 pp. Standing in the field, you can almost hear the battle cries of the Natives and hear the sound of the guns firing. This is definitely a must see if you are in the area.

stop in if looking at the other historical stuff in the area but not worth visiting by itself unless a real history buff.

This place is great! This was a scene of a battle that took place in August 1763 -- 13 years before the Revolutionary War.I would recommend you visit the Visitor Center first and hear about the area, George Washington's role in all this, actual artifacts from that era, and a short 10 minute movie showing a reenactment of the battle. If the place is slow (my guess would be most of the time) a guide will take you through museum and explain things in greater detail. If not offered to you ... ask for it! This should take about 30 to 45 minutes. They have some goodies you can buy that represent foods from that time ... the chocolate was good.If you can, take the tour of the battlefield with the guide. The one I had was great, only wish I could remember his name (had glasses and Van Dyke, if you go). He took me through the two battlefields and explained everything and how things progressed. Being a history buff, this was great! When he explained the Flour Sack Fort and subsequent battle, you could literally see it in your mind's eye. And then the tour down the walking trails, you could just feel how things might have been 250 years ago.There is a huge covered picnic area and open fields. You might see many dog walkers there as there are quite a few walking trails around. Restroom facilities are in the Visitor Center.All in all, this was definitely worth the drive (about 30 minutes east of Pittsburgh) and would be good for the whole family! Everyone will have fun. I am definitely going back for the 250 year Celebration that will feature a reenactment.
