We spent the day traveling to New Glarus to enjoy the scenery and visit this area in south central Wisconsin for the first time. We most enjoyed the day and the personal touch when served outstanding ice cream at Maple Leaf. The owners Barb Kummerfeldt and Steve Wisdom served us. Barb comes from a long line of family of ice cream makers and her ancestors developed many of the recipes in the ice cream they serve today. This wonderful couple were most pleasant and conversational. We enjoyed our stop here even more than the great stop at the New Glarus Brewery!

Samples of cheese are self-service, but if you want to sample fudge, you either hope for the gentleman who is knowledgable and polite, or deal with the lady who seems to have less patience for people. Prices are a bit high, but not more than we expected. You do have to pay more for quality, and they certainly have that here. The dark fudge with sea salt was our choice to take home.

Service was poor and help was extremely rude. We were lectured on the way to properly order the ice cream and then snapped at to repeat the one scoop order. Came to visit after the brewery and was sadly disappointed. Maybe my expectations were higher than they should have been. Sadly will not return

High prices on the meat and cheese. If you have to wait in line you can ask for a sample of the fudge. Thought there would be a little more variety but still a very cute little shoppe.

Such a fantastic variety of cheese, always fresh and tasty! We drive up to New Glarus for the beer and cheese and this is our cheese destination!

Little "Swisstown" has a lot of things to see and taste for it's small size. The first place you come to on Main Street is the Maple Leaf - you're greeted with the Maple Leaf cow statue (one of 21 cows throughout town), pretty flowers and lots of people wanting to taste and buy! Yes, there's cheese and chocolate, but there's also homemade ice cream, sausages and various other treats. You can't stop here without getting something. We bought fudge, then went back at the end of our day for ice cream (mine was sugar free and delicious).http://www.mapleleafcheeseandchocolatehaus.com/

Lots of local cheese including varieties of cheese curds (frequently cheddar is all one finds), chocolates, other goodies including some nifty souvenir/ handy things (cheese cutters, books, etc). A fun shop if you are in New Glarus.

We stop in here every time we come to New Glarus. We always try something different and have never been disappointed. The last we were there they had Southern Comfort fudge. This stuff was the best fudge I had ever eaten. I just wish they weren't a couple hours away! :( They are always friendly and the prices of their fudge isn't much different than the other places. We will continue to make this a regular stop when we're out on our motorcycle.

After driving from New York to Mt. Rushmore, SD, we decided that we needed a little break from the road. We checked into a cool little place called "Chalet Landhaus Inn" in New Glarus, WI. We were looking for a small quiet town to shop and rest before heading home. We were pleasantly surprised by the area, quiet country type with a variety of things to do..PERFECT for what we needed! We took a tour of the small village and came across a shop called Maple Leaf Cheese and Chocolate Haus...how could we resist! The owner was very informative about just about everything the shop had and more. We sampled some cheese and even though they were slightly higher in cost, the variety helped us make it a "one stop shopping" for all. Next we were onto the fudge, being told how her husband makes it and all, we sampled and were impressed and bought some of that too! Worth stopping if your traveling through Wisconsin or biking the Sugar River Trail!

Just a fun little place to stop. Great, home made fudge and a large variety. You can watch it being made. Sample then select the ones you like best. Multiple varieties and types of cheeses. The sheer variety found here offset the slightly higher cost for what we'd seen other places. Ice Cream was good for a warm day. Had a lot of imported candies and cookies from Europe. We recognized many from when we have lived and traveled there. Wisconsin honey did seem quite overpriced.

Nice stop on the cheese trail - especially if you're looking for non-white cheese curds during the week! We did buy cheese here and they were very friendly.

This shop has so many different types of fudge, you will have a hard time picking a favorite. They give you samples of anything that you'd like. This place is not for diabetics, that's for sure. They also have a nice selection of cheeses from the area. And right next door is an old fashioned meat market. Right down the street is Primrose Winery. Cheese, Wine and Meat, all within walking distance !

You are met instantly with aroma of Chocolate and the display of fudge-- which you are also able to sample Better to be with friends so that you can sample their choices, too. Definitely worth the trip for something different to share with friends. The shop also offers shipping to anywhere in the US and Canada at specific times during the year, too.

I've been visiting this shoppe every time I go to New Glarus. Their fudge is excellent with an ever changing variety of new favorites. Their selection of Green County cheeses is excellent and typifies the flavors fo the area. My son loves their unique collection of sweets as well.... Definitely worth a visit!
