Have been "summertime" people for years. Nothing beats the Lake Tomahawk Meat Market for the best meat in the entire area!!! It's like stepping back in time. You will never be disappointed in your purchase. Just remember - NO CREDIT CARDS - just cash and checks.

We have a place up here, and it is always a blast. The lakes are beautiful, the Wisconsin River is fun, we like to hop on innertubes and float it. It is a beautiful stretch without hardly any cabins. The restaurants and bars in town serve excellent food and they have Smiley service!

Lake Tomahawk is a small town located in the North Woods of Wisconsin. The actual population is about 300 + but there are over 1,100 homes so about two thirds of the population are summer or part time residents only. The main street has about 20 different businesses, mostly bars and a couple of nice restaurants. They have two fish and tackle shops and one BP and an amazing old-time butcher shop. There is a small flea market held on the weekends in the summer. There is a huge lake, Lake Tomahawk, which connects with four other lakes, one being Minocqua Lake. Lake Tomahawk is best known for the sport: Snowshoe Baseball. They play Monday nights in the summer and it's lots of fun with a small mix of locals but many more who are tourists. The game is played in snowshoes, with slightly adjusted rules (smaller field, less strikes and balls), and is a riot to watch. The teams are mostly from the area, but they often play at least one game with a team from Chicago. They serve brats, burgers and soft drinks and the main draw for me, pie for $l.50 a slice. Each week a local group or organization provides the pies, so on some nights you can find 20 varieties. Lots of fun and something you should not miss if you are in the area.

It is easily the clearest lake I have ever seen in my life. I was disappointed I wasn't able to spend more time in the area. I will be back.

Nice small town we enjoyed boating on the lake and all the shops in town. Even though it is a small town we found all we needed there including food and drinks. It was a fun time for all

If you want peace and quiet and to do nothing but relax, the north woods is for you.I love it here. I do not watch TV. I take walks with my 2 yorkies and I read and enjoy thequiet. At home the phone is always ringing and there is always some crisis to tend too.The drive up here is beautiful and I never tire of looking at all the different kinds of trees. Our cabin is cozy and away from all the hectic pace of the city. It's our little peace of heaven.Lynn Gehrke

We went to Lake Tomahawk to do some fishing. We saw more wildlife (eagles, loons, deer) on Lake Tomahawk than we saw on any other lake. We had lunch at Lakeside (right on the lake). Food was outstanding and the bartender Josh was very friendly and helpful.

The town was small, but they have live bait, gas, beer, soda, and a small butcher shop that everybody raves about. Its overpriced, but it is everywhere in the Eagle River area. If you're heading up, bring bug spray and sunscreen from home (both were 12 bucks a pop!!).

This is small town on Highway 47 between Minocqua and Lake Tomahawk that grows on you. The people are down to earth and friendly. There's 2-3 good places to eat. The Lions/Lionesses keep the town humming with activities. Known for snowshoe baseball on Monday nights in the summer - have a hamburger, brat or hot dog and homemade pie first from the concession stand. Great fireworks on July 4th!

When ever I want to be treated well by the owner and or bartenders at a friendly bar, I head for the Happy daze bar in Lake Tomahawk. Be prepared for an invitation to sign the owner's guest book. Jim is a most friendly person, and can talk sense to you on just about any subject. If you're into sports you'll find him extremely well versed on the subject. His main bartender 'Judy' is also very pleasent, and soft spoken. Nothing fancy at this bar just a nice small town bar that has been run by Jim for the past 30 yrs.. You will also be pleased with the prices. Do yourself a favor and stop in and say hello to Jim or Judy.
