If you are the outdoorsy type but don't want to feel like you are on a trek check this out. Easy trail (used to be an only rail bed). You can take a stroller or a great place for a morning run if you are visiting. If you head out towards Irvington from the trial head don't miss the Devils punch bowl. Another of mother natures beauties

I'm an old guy and I bike parts of this trail 60-75 times per season. Scenic, flat, mostly good surface, tranquil, lots of birds and wildlife and easy to access. What an asset for our area

Safe, quiet, beautiful trail to bike, run or walk. Follows the river. Picnic tables and benches along trail to rest.

Loved walking on the Red Cedar Trail. Next year I'll try bike riding. It is well paved and scenic. At the beginning there is the Red Cedar River. There is woods along the way also. Sometimes you will meet people who are just enjoying the beauty of the trail.

The trail follows the Red Cedar River so it is a winding trail with plenty of shade. Be sure to wear insect repellent during the mosquito season.

I was staying in Downsville, WI and the Red Cedar trail was 3 blocks away. I took a daily walk. It was fall and the colors were changing. They also had a nicely clean bathroom and drinking fountain at that location.

Such a nice trail. Brought along a lunch, stopped and had a nice picnic. The visitor information building is fun. Very nice scenery.

14.5 Mile bike/hike trail with scenic variety. Great birdwatching, TONS of butterflies, wooden bridges, farms, adjacent to a serene river, through forest, waterfalls, rocky outcroppings...you name it. The trail was relatively level. We went on a Saturday afternoon and we passed maybe a dozen folks. No traffic and very peaceful. We drove from the Twin Cities and didn't regret it at all.$4 trail fee.

Trail follows the Red Cedar river. Several unique bridges to cross.Trail was fairly well groomed, but under construction for part of the way (crushed gravel was a bit soft and loose). This was not a problem for our Trek bikes. One can assume this is even more beautiful in the fall months. Restrooms are quite far apart for a state funded and fee based trail.

Great trail for walking, running or biking. It's a fairly easy trail, nothing too strenuous or tasking. I'd suggest bringing snacks or water, as there isn't anything available from Menomonie to Irving. Enjoy!

The trail is great! It follows the Red Cedar River on the west side. The first leg of the trail starts in Menomonie and ends in Irvington. Parking is available on both ends. The trail is fairly level and great for biking or walking. Pets are allowed The trail continues to Downsville and beyond.

On top of being a great trail for biking, there is also a nice little town called Downsville along the trail where you can stop for lunch before going back to Menomonie. It also joins the Chippewa River trail, where you can bike to Durand or Eau Claire. We like to bike to Menomonie and stay over night at one of the hotels, then return to Eau Claire the next day. Beautiful level trail right along the river.

The Red Cedar Trail is great for hiking and biking. I enjoy walking early and viewing the wildlife. There are often Bald Eagles or herons "fishing" early in the morning. There are many places to rest along the way. Take your camera, both the flora and fauna are very interesting. The trail is free to hikers, you need to pay either a daily fee or you can get a season pass if you ride.

The Red Cedar trail is awesome. Perfect for walking, biking, or winter activities. Pets are welcome (on leash, of course), and there are several spots to stop. Beautiful scenery all year round!

We love the Red Cedar Trail. It parallels the Red Cedar river for some 14 miles. The views of the river and bluffs are awesome. The trail is crushed stone and very well maintained. There are restaurants and bathroom facilities along the route and many places to get off your bike and just enjoy the scenery. We rode to the southern end of the trail and then connected up with the Chippewa Trail and rode the next 7 miles to the town of Durand. The Chippewa River Trail from the end of the Red Cedar to Durand is nice and wide and appears to be newly paved which made that part of the ride very pleasant. We have been there before and will certainly go back.
