The golf course is beautifully maintained and service with a smile, is great! Enjoy an afternoon or morning with a beautiful sun rise, a cup of coffee and then head for the hills, for a wonderful day of golf. The restaurants offer a variety of local grown foods, with tasty gourmet choices. The breathtaking, country side surrounds the course. Historic, downtown Hartford, with lots of Specialty Shops and Restaurants and a Historic Bed and Breakfast; perfect for lodging and relaxing after a busy day; are just 7 miles north of the golf course. The perfect setting for a week end away!

I'm sorry that this review is being posted so late after our round in May. For some reason, I could not get Erin Hills to post on TripAdvisor. Now that this has been solved, let me share the wonderful day my son and I had at Erin Hills! It started out with the course allowing me to talk a cart/caddy due to an arthritic knee. The head pro was very accommodating and I would not have been able to walk the full course without the cart assist. My riding caddy was great and we had a wonderful conversation throughout the day. Unfortunately, it keep us from the rest of the group, but it was well worth it. The course is magnificent!! It was part of a trip that included all 4 courses at Blackwolf/Whistling Straits as well as The Bull at Pinehurst Farms. We also got to play the Chicago Golf Club, which was truly outstanding.Back to Erin. We started with breakfast in the clubhouse overlooking the course. A wonderful way to start. As range balls were included, you could spend hours there beating balls but that was not the purpose of the day. Each hole is distinctive and separate from one another and I mean separate. My son described the "length of the holes between the holes" meaning the walk. The pro shop said it was an 8/8 1/2 mile walk and that's why I took the cart. We treated our son with a caddie for Fathers Day and carrying his clubs would have been a little much on our first day of a 5 day, 9 round trip. If you don't mind getting beat up, this is a wonderful course to play, especially since the US Open is coming here in 2017. You can begin to see how good these guys are when you walk past their tees and see how much longer they are.Erin Hills was the last public US Open course that I needed to add to Pebble, Pinehurst, Bethpage, Torrey Pines and Chambers Bay. Had we not planned for all of the other rounds of golf, we would have taken advantage of their overnight special.

We got washed out of a day of golf and had to rearrange our golfing schedule and Erin Hills was very accomidating. The course was awesome. It was in great condition. Fairways and greens were immaculate. I love this style of course, the tall burnt fescue looks awesome next to the bright green fairways. I found this course to be pretty difficult and im a low handicapper. The staff were all very nice and our caddie was great. I highly recommend this course to anyone that goes to the Kohler Resort. If you're a true golf enthusiast and don't play this course while in WI you will truly miss out.

Every hole at Erin Hills is a good hole, testing the golfer on every shot and requiring him/her to shape shots and to position drives on the right side of the fairways and iron shots on some of the greens. The ever changing scenery was spectacular in late September as the color of the trees (not so much on the course, but around it) had started to turn. You generally only see the hole that you are playing. The greens are large and undulated. Some of them are so elevated, that the approach shot is blind (as are a couple of the drives). We who drive the ball 220 to 250 yards, played from the white tees, frequently leaving short approaches into the greens. We should probably have played from one tee further back.A real treat even for the most spoiled. Not to be missed before it is discovered by all with the US Open coming to Erin Hills in 2017.Erin Hills is a walking only course and is fairly hilly, with some distance from greens to tees. The rooms are outstanding also.

Had the pleasure of playing Erin Hills this past week. It lives up to the hype. I am very skeptical of these destination courses, but this one actually delivers. Top notch service from start to finish. The course conditions with excellent. The greens were especially good and rolled great. The course is very fair, but challenging. Pick the appropriate tees, We played in very damp conditions and the balls weren't traveling as far and not getting much roll.

Loved the course design, and the conditions were great. It's a trek, so get a caddy and just enjoy being there.

Erin Hills is a wonderful facility. The golf course is idyllic, the service is impeccable and the facilities are terrific. While the course is difficult (the greens are crazy fast), it is very fair. The setting could not be more beautiful. And the "quietness" of the course is remarkable. Even if you're golf game isn't "up to par" you will enjoy the walk (about 8 to 9 miles). The caddies are terrific -- one day I had a high school math teacher with a 5 HCP caddying as a summer job and the other day someone that had taught golf on a cruise ship. All the caddies were gentlemen, knowledgeable about the course and fun to be with.Everyone there goes out of their way to make sure you have a great time. They are extremely customer centric. The cottages (with four rooms each) are a great place to stay if you're with a group of guys or couples. Dinner was outstanding. I can't say enough good things about this place. Enjoy.It is the site of the 2017 US Open so playing the course will add to your enjoyment watching the Open.

When Erin Hills first opened, there were a lot of gimmicky holes. With a major championship on its way, the PGA made them take those out and what a difference. Most fun with a caddie. Several tees to choose from to make it fair for every golfer. Plan on 5 hours even without anyone in front of you, it's just that long. Take along a camera and have a pint or two when your done.

This is a very expansive property and a true inland links design. It is very challenging but a lot of fun to play, especially if you pick the correct set of tees. Caddies are very helpful in plotting your way around this walking only course - how good they are in reading the greens depends a lot of the experience level of the caddy you are assigned. Good mix of short and long holes, most well bunkered. They say it is an 8 mile walk if you play the course in straight lines (who does that?) so expect it to be lonmger. But well worth it.

If you can, buy the overnight package and play the day before and the day after. You need to play this twice. Super friendly people, beautiful layout, very playable and fair. You need a caddy the first time out. The bar is nice. The food was good. The new pro shop is great. A great trip with the guys or couples who enjoy golf. I would couple it with a trip up the road to Kohler and the America's club. Great biking on the rails to trails nearby. We stayed at the Delafield hotel in Delafield which was fabulous.

Playing 2017 US Open here so we wanted to play it. Walking only links course with caddies required unless you carry your own clubs. Fun to play but as a better than average golfer, I found the ladies tees and bit short. My husband is a good senior golfer and the whites were over 6400 yards for him. They do provide a combo white/red tee box at 5800 yards but the mix was not very good in my opinion. Overall, I would rather spend the money at Whistling Straits which is 45 minutes away, also a links course with better caddies, clubhouse and course.

My group has been going there for 5 years and the improvements they have made are incredible. We are staying this year at the Golf Cottages (and did last year). After a nice round of golf (about a 9 mile walk) - great to come back to the cottage, have a drink and relax before dinner. The restaurant is next door to the cottages and some of the best steaks you ever have! A 45 minute drive from Milwaukee - easier to get to and much more cost effective than Kohler! Do Erin and you'll be glad you did!
