wehr nature center

This is located in Whitnal Park area. All I can say on a nice summer day this place is beautiful. You can take a nice nature walk for hours. There is a lake to walk around and in fun watching all the geese and ducks landing in the water.

There's nothing bad about Wehr. From the beautiful location in Whitnall Park to the fantastic staff and corp of volunteers, it's all good. it's a fantastic asset to the Milwaukee area. Nice gift shop, especially for kids, great special programs and events, exceptional kids education classes. The hiking trails always provide you with a feel for nature. You can go for the special events or on a lonely weekday just to get away from civilization right next door to a bustling city. I took my kids there and they now take their kids there, and express the same sentiments about Wehr.

There is always something going on here. They plan lots of nature events and have more than a hundred volunteers who help out. We've been here to make apple cider, and again for a haunted hike at night when they light up 400 pumpkins. And you don't need a special event to come here. Indoors there are snakes and salamanders. The lake is beautiful and full of bull frogs, ducks, and geese. The trails are well marked and scenic. You may see racoons, squirrels, and deer. We've heard the occasional owl hooting at night. Great place to see nature.

I read about this place in a "50 best hikes in Wisconsin" book or something like that, and I'm so glad I went. I've been in Milwaukee for a few years now, but had no clue this place existed. It's was a beautiful place to visit on a crisp fall evening. The waterfall alone is a great reason to visit and I think we're going to try and make it back once every season.

Easy hiking trails that are well maintained. Boardwalks through marshy areas and a waterfall at the end of the lake only about a 10 minute walk from the center. The center itself is very nice and they have an outdoor area where they host events and presentations throughout the summer.You pay a very minimal amount to visit (I believe it was only $2, plus a few more for parking)

This is one of those Milwaukee places that you must visit every once in a while. One of those special Milwaukee spots we forget to appreciate and are lucky to have.

This center has excellent banquet facilities run by Bartollata. We had our daughters wedding reception there and the Bartollata people were very helpful and accomodating. The gardens are absolutely a gem and pciture perfect.
