The riverwalk is a new addition to DePere. Start at Voyageur Park, a paved path is on the west side. It is a short walk past the working lock then along the shore of the Fox River onto a walkway that juts out over the river. It is an easy walk and a good place to see the rapids, especially during the spring. Also during the spring you can observe the catfish close to the shore- some are huge reaching lengths over 4'If you are walking around in DePere you should check this out.

The Riverwalk is such a great addition to De Pere. It is very popular place. There is a walk bridge as you get near the water and it is so peaceful to stand there and watch the birds and the Fox River. Great atmosphere and way to get out, enjoy nature, and get some exercise!

I don't dislike any thing about the River Walk it's a great addition to De Pere. It's a great place to take your children they love to watch the people in their boats fishing. Also on the end of the walkway the paddle locks they are really cool.

Nice little walk that is well lit and sure footed pathways. The wildlife can be abundant as well as the crowds so an evening stroll was perfect. Nice place to check out and relax.

DePere has built a beautiful walkway on and over the Fox River near the dam. It is a hangout for white pelicans, turtles, ducks and geese. We have taken the granddaughters there and they really enjoyed seeing pelicans up close. They are much larger than you imagine. It is a great place to listen to the rushing water from the dam and enjoy the wildlife. If you get too warm while walking along you can stop at a cute little old building that has been converted into a cafe, offering ice cream cones, lemonade and great sandwiches. Sit by the river and eat on the little patio area. The girls especially enjoyed seeing the boat locks being used. It is pretty cool to see how the water is either raised or lowered so people can traverse in and out of the bay. I believe it walkway piers were all built by private donation. Shows what we can do when we work together.

We are from Michigan and this was the first time in Wisconsin. We found out about this location from a Wisconsin native on a boat on our way to Washington Island. He told us that the White Pelicans hang out by the dam in De Pere. We had to go! We are birding enthusiasts. We found the place by total accident. It is at the foot of Voyageur Park by the dam and in front of the Cafe Chanson. There was a lot of thought and money put into this project and it was all worth it.

Ever since I first saw a pelican in Florida many years ago, I fell in love with these wonderfully odd looking creatures. What a wonderful surprise to find them in Wisconsin. The riverwalk is pretty and a relaxing stroll along the Fox River to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. Lots of pelicans, birds and even turtles sunbathing on the rocks. There are combination locks hooked to the railings which they have written little love notes on. One even had "will you marry me on it "Nice park without a fee to enter or park your vehicle.A great little find while visiting the area.

This is the kind of community project that adds value to the daily lived experience and increases, by its mere presence, the quality of life of those who live in or visit De Pere. It is well used by walkers, joggers, bikers, and vacationers. The rush of water and the squeal of the birds is very soothing. And I never saw a pelican before outside of Gulf-coast Florida. Very, very cool attraction.

Fantastic views of the dam and local wildlife. We stopped and watched pelicans and ducks and could see carp in the water below. Great place to watch the sunset or sunrise. The weather was perfect and it was not very busy.

When they first mooted the idea of developing this area, a lot of the locals were not very keen so kudos to the City council and all the advocates who made this happen. When I took a walk down there last night, the place was packed. It felt like I was on vacation with the fishermen, pedestrians, cyclists, strollers and skaters all enjoying the trails, park and viewing area. It was great to see so many parents with young ones watching the pelicans swoop, trying to catch the fish and just strolling in the evening sunshine. The viewing area is a great idea and I like the way people have "owned" it by attaching padlocks with initials of their loved ones. Very European. So pleasant to have an interesting walk off the trail, nature right on your doorstep.

Fox Riverwalk and Wildlife Viewing Areas are just the ticket for all ages. It's so much more than watching water rush over the dam. Depending on the time of year, one can see massive carp and sturgeon and white bass, walleye near the dam and surrounding walkway along with pelicans, various types of ducks and ducklings, peregine falcons, Canada geese, egrets, blue and green herons, bald eagles and red tail and cooper's hawks. It is also interesting to watch the lock system (which is done by hand) letting boats up and down the river. There are multiple walkways to enjoy.New: Kavarna Coffee House branch on walkway with restroom for patrons.

the riverwalk extends out over the fox river near the dam. awesome to watch the water rush under you when the dam is at full force...and when dam is "dryer" just wonderful to watch the gorgeous white pelicans, ducks and herons. just be prepared for the sidewalks leading up to the riverwalk...often covered in canadian goose poop, so choose footwear accordingly.

A nice stroll on a summers day. It's fun to watch the lock tender open and close the lock system by hand to let boats up and down the Fox River. Kids seem to get a big kick out of that! It's even a great place to bring the elderly that may be wheelchair bound. Watch out for a crazy amount of goose droppings, though! I caution you not to look around and walk at the same time! :)

Very nice walking path. Loved watching the white pelicans and seeing the monstrous carp on the waters edge. Looking forward to the ice cream shop opening.
