Wonderful museum with knowledgable people, great exhibits and a story to tell! The hot chocolate on the Friday after thanks giving is a nice touch on a cold day.

I went to the Watkins Museum with my dad in search of some history on Quantrill's Raid. Knowing there was a brand new exhibit to mark the 150th anniversary, I was impressed with the information provided. There is an interactive display on the second floor retracing the raid via a large digital map as well as photos and stories associated with several sites. There is also a BEAUTIFUL large oil painting done by Ernst Ulmer that greets visitors to the display area. The building itself is wonderfully restored with lots of history. Be sure to admire the beautiful woodwork and doors as you visit the displays. Truly remarkable!

Very nice museum! Nice display on the second floor of the 150th anniversary of Quantrill's Raid on Lawrence, KS. Nice lecture by Author and Historian Katie Armitage. Will be back....

This is worth going to just to see the architecture in the building. The marble mosaic floors and marble wainscot is incredible.

The newly opened exhibit on Quantrill's Raid "Terror & Triumph" is well worth a visit. This is an important event in the history of Lawrence which occurred in Aug.1863. In 2013 the Museum will commemorate the 150th anniversary of this event and Civil War buffs should take the opportunity to visit since the events surrounding the era of "Bleeding Kansas" are an important part of the nation's history. The Museum is free but donations are always welcomed!

Don't miss this - we learned a lot about Lawrence's history of civil rights and wrongs.

Really enjoyed this museum and the fee was a donation! It even had the first electric car, you should see the size of the battereies. Lots of history! (And current history too)
