This is the University of Kansas' Natural History Museum. Perhaps its most interesting feature is the building in which it is housed. Of Romanesque design and built in the early days of the 20th century, the building is beautiful to behold. Inside, don't miss the Panorama which comprises some left-overs from the 1893 World’s Fair. Most importantly, for taxidermist wannabes, is Comanche...a stuffed horse ridden by one of Custer's officers in the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876.

We went for the day because the kids had an Environmental Education assignment. What a glorious day and museum! Even the teenagers loved it. This is a great mix of science and the building's architecture is just gorgeous. We really enjoyed our family day!
