This place is FANTASTIC! A must see on the list of things to do in KC. Not only is this a great place to visit, we also had a baby shower here in the tea room that was wonderful! The atmosphere, the amazing service, the location and view...it was perfect! No matter young or old, everyone loved being here. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Great job Strawberry Hill! This is a gem in the heart of KCK!

This is a quaint museum that tells the story of Croation Immigration in the early 1900's who settled in the area known as Strawberry Hill. The museum has limited weekend hours but well worth a stop especially for history buffs and those of Slavic heritage. If you are visiting in the fall, be sure to check out the Strawberry Hill Festival held in August to enjoy Croation hospitality and cuisine.

This is a wonderful gem in Kansas City of Eastern European and European cultural heritage. The Lithuanian, Polish, Ukrainian, Slovenian and other exhibit rooms are amazing. What is so unique about this museum not only is its history and architecture, but that the museum is run completely by local volunteers and donations. The Pope's bed and room from the TWA flights is so special, particulalry this weekend with the Pope's beautification. We enjoyed the stories of the orphans and nuns who lived there during the Flu pandemic, and various other reasons, and when the home was a private home (originally before the orphanage). The way that these families have preserved their heritage, culture and local Parish with the beautiful churches in the area is truly unique and well worth a visit! Another hidden KC gem! The tea room is open the first weekend of the month-- can't wait to go back and try that too! My husband and I went with another couple. Our friend is of Ukranian descent and traded stories and history. Amazing!!

The museum is simply awesome, gorgeous and educational. If possible go see the museum between Thanksgiving and Christmas, every room is decorated to the NINES!!! Be sure to stop in the gift shop, lots of items of interest in there. The chapel and the staircase are amazing and if it is open, stop in the Tea Room for some relaxing refreshments.

Never been anywhere like it. Our group had someone with us who'd grown up in the area, so we got a personal tour beyond the museum. Don't miss the historical quaint homes surrounding the museum on their 25' wide lots. A great walking tour. The cathedrals in the area are also gorgeous.

The museum contains a church, tea room and plenty of display rooms that take you on a historical journey of the eastern Europeans that settled in Kansas City, Kansas in an area referred to as "Strawberry Hill". The original clothing, old pictures, crafts are all on display and displayed artfully and respectfully throughout the rooms of this wonderful piece of history. Clearly, a must see whether you're eastern European or not. Tour guides are always eager to assist you and tell of the history of the site.

We enjoyed the tour and information provided. It is a short but informative tour. It's a bit out of the way but worth finding. They provide information on Polish influences on the area. A great time on a rainy day.

Went at Christmastime when all the festive decor was present. That added an extra dimension. The history here is exceptional. I grew up in KCK and have lived in the area all my life,so some local history was very well received. a unique experience

Many major cities have areas that are little ethnic enclaves, that still retain the flavor of the early 20th century rush of immigration from Europe. At this museum and home, you will experience what it might have been like coming to Kansas City in 1910 from Croatia or Slovakia. A very nice place for those of us that have roots in the old country to see what our grandparents were faced with...

set in what was a orphanage in the late 1800's the museum reviews the cultural past of the diverse region of Serbians, Greeks, Croatians, and Russians that lived in the area of Strawberry Hill

We toured the museum and culture center over the holidays and enjoyed the beautiful nativities that adorned the chapel. We began our tour in the chapel with our guide giving us a brief introduction on the history of the chapel, how the orphanage came into being and the history of the museum and culture center. The tour was very informative, however we did feel rushed as we went into each of the rooms in the Hall of Immigrants. It was very hard to look at all that was in each room from the different countries that were represented. The rooms were beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations and other items from the cultures that have lived in the Strawberry Hill District. We understand that during the Christmas season that others are thinking the same, and just took in all that we could with the anticipation of returning during a time that is not so busy. We did end our tour with a stop in the tea room. Perhaps during the holidays, the best time to stop in here would have been at 1:00 PM when they opened to get the best selection of the wonderful desserts they serve here. However, we did enjoy the few that we had to choose from along with our coffee and tea.We will definitely be back to check out the things that we didn't have time to see. The museum is only open on Saturday & Sunday from 12-5, and the tea room from 1-4.

The guided Christmas tour puts a special touch to this preservation of a turn of the century lifestyle where eastern Europe's oldest culture of immigrants settled. The "Strawberry Hill" area of Kansas City, KS still remains a living ethnic, largely Croatian, community. The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays, but try to do it in the Christmas season when the chapel is also fully decorated. Save extra time for the tea room treats and tea.
