On my long drive between Texas and Wyoming I always find one new place to stop and take a break each day. One year I stopped here and it was worth it. After some poking around the perimiter I found a door that led into the building. One of the sisters came around and opened the church for me and let me visit and walk around. It would have been nice to get a guided tour but it was fine because I stuck to my own schedule. One highlight was a glass case full of reliquiaries - very cool! This was definitely worth a quick detour on my long drive. I ate a quick picnic lunch on the grounds and then was on my way.

Tour was very nice. The women know their art. It is worth your time to learn the history of the community and they art they have produced.

This structure is magnificient. Catholic nuns still have living quarters there. Tours are available -- donations accepted. Very friendly staff.

Smack dab in little Concordia is a magnificent gem of art and architectural history. Even if one is not Catholic or even religious, one will be moved by the art and architecture collected in this one place.Perhaps the most striking piece iss the gigantic rose window. After so much work, there was not enough interest or money to finish the chapel. So, that room was cut in half and the back of the chapel turned into two stories worth of rooms. In the upper room, one can sit and look at the giant rose window. One can even walk up to it and touch it.If you are in Concordia, a visit to the CSJ Motherhouse is well worth your while.
