Fantastic historical site. Funny it's not really a cathedral at all. Very rare to see such a historical building that is so well preserved. Lots of history and symbolism here. Definately worth a visit, especially since it's free (but you have to take a tour). Tour guide was much more open about masonry than expected.

Had a chance to visit the Scottish Rite Cathedral for a friends wedding reception for their daughter. Very unique place for a wedding reception. It worked out well. What a beautiful place, and the architecture here is awesome! If you ever have a chance to visit you would be amazed at the beauty!

This is a beautiful Cathedral, for any type of event. I went for a graduation in the Auditorium but saw where they had set up for a couple of weddings, and it was amazing.

I've been able to tour the cathedral several times and it is an amazing and beautiful experience even for an individual that is not super religious.

What an amazing place to visit. Definitely the most beautiful building in Indianapolis or anywhere else nearby. Honestly, don't know if I can think of a more beautiful building in the US. Maybe some places in DC. This is part of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. The building is open for free tours during the week. Close to the World War memorial and across from the American Legion Mall. This place is worth a trip to see. My wife and I came to a wedding here and also came back for a tour.

We attended an evening function that encompassed the 2nd and 3rd floor. Beautiful wood interior, ornately carved walls, ceiling etc. Well preserved and maintained. The historical artifacts are fascinating. Find out the tour days and times. You won't be disappointed

I enjoyed a private (free) tour of the Scottish Rite Cathedral, complete with an historical overview by a well-informed docent who rightfully took pride in this grand structure. This edifice is a marvel, exquisitely executed. I could have spent hours studying the stained glass windows alone, and the woodworking and carvings are exemplary.I didn't have an appointment--I just dropped in--but was warmly welcomed and offered the tour. Plan on spending at least an hour or more if you are really into the architecture.

Except to professionals the unique architecture is indescribable!Received 32nd degree of Masonry in the autumn of 1970. An honor and wonderfully educational experience!

This is a must see on a visit to Indianapolis for its beauty and amazing craftsmanship. We went through a tour here that they give and the person giving it was very knowledgeable in the history of the cathedral and all of its workings. Bring a camera for you will definitely want to photograph the beautiful rooms here.

The Scottish Rite Cathedral is magnificent. I have attended a few shows in the auditorium and as well as dinners in the downstairs facility. All were memorable! The architecture is fantastic as is the decor. The crown jewel was the dance floor in the ballroom. It is suspended on springs and is made of two colors of wood in a checkerboard pattern. Just to walk across this floor is amazing. A must see part of downtown Indy
