The Depot District has really come to life in the last few years. They have lots of festivals - nice antique shops, coffee shops, restaurants and other places to visit! Be sure to stop by!

This part of town is rebuilding itself. There is several different restaurants in the area, so you can find something for everyone. There is a neat furniture store in an old building and very interesting to visit. During the year there is festivals and it is great to go and get something to eat and visit all the booths. The area is the right size for these festival. Not so big that you feel like all you are doing is walking just to get around to everything. Just a nice stroll.

Let me start off by saying that I live in the area so I am in the Depot District almost every week. We have tried all of the restaurants and there is a variety if you look. The furniture store is worth just walking through to get the feel of the old building that has been brought back to life. You can also get decent deals too.Throughout the year there are themed events that bring people into the area, Sometimes the streets are closed which makes for a pleasant stroll in the area, I particularly like the fourth of July festival that usually has some good talent playing until the wee hours.Yes there are antique shops and the actual old depot building is still a work in progress but the murals on the buildings are worth seeing all by themselves. The bars/restaurants in the area have some okay talent most times but it is not unusual to see a national talent come through such as blues legend Bryan Lee every once in a while. Traveling in many similar sized cities around the area this is something that other places should emulate. This area is as safe as any and probably a lot more that most. I don't know what that one character was referring to.If you are traveling in the area stop in.

Very enjoyable. Grandkids loved the trains but one was scared of old cargo elevator to top floor. He took the stairs. We ate at Joe's Pizza which was good. Didn't get to ride the horse drawn carriage but a good reason to go back.

This area of Richmond was great, but it needs a few more things to do there. We really enjoyed the shops and restaurants that are currently there, but wish there was a bit more shopping that was not antiques. They also need to be open on Sundays.

If you are in Richmond this is certainly worth an afternoon--especially on a weekend when it is more likely all the antique shops will actually be open. There are a few nice antique shops--with really great prices if you have time to spend there. The area is kept clean and there is certainly a definite 'historic' feel with the wide sidewalks, old buildings and their huge windows, recessed entrances and wood floors. I found each business owner to be welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed a walk around the area with the very diverse businesses--ethnic grocery, antique shop, bars, commercial establishments, etc. What dining options lack in numbers they make up in diversity...a gamut offering an excellent upscale French Rest/Chocolatier, a sports bar, an ethnic counter, Mexican, burgers or a tasty ice cream shop option. It won't take a whole day to stroll around but it is worth a few hours...Buy some antiques, have an ice cream and end with a fab French meal at Ghyslain!

The Depot District has many interesting old buildings. A lot of potential, with not a lot there at the moment. If there was enough to do in Richmond it would be cool to stay a few days just to try out all the restaurants. Beyond the restaurants it is a mixed bag of a shops and indoor flea markets scattered through the old buildings.

Fun experience as I was bicycling through Richmond, Indiana. Nice shops, antiques , oddities and collectibles. Huge Furniture store with museum like attributes, should check it out on the 4th floor, car, huge stuffed bunny and neat train display. Several eateries, tap room etc. Close to the Cardinal greenway.

The Historic Depot will have new tenants who will develop many new attractions and services by Dec.2014. Seven partners, several who graduated from Centerville High School six miles west of Richmond. Mike Widau one the of the partners states that the businesses will have their own identity and occupy much of the depot area. One announced business will be the Depot House of Brews that will feature 50 Craft Brews on tap and food items produced in Indiana as stated by chef Craig Gareiss who served as chef at the Wicked Spoon in Las Vegas and the Cerulean Restaurant in Indianapolis. Craig and partner Jared Ward, both Centerville High School graduates, state that the pub and wine bar will focus local products. Ward also stated that in addition there will be a banquet hall to seat 499 guests and a gift and apparel store called PAX that will have quirky and unique items for all tastes. All the above partners also commented that their project will also feature a three-seasoned outdoor brick patio for patrons use and enjoyment. They commented that this building will open many new opportunities for visitors and guests, and their partners, as Roger Richert expands business opportunities.

Who knew there was such a cool area in a small town? We have attended the Oktoberfest in the Depot Area for the last two years as our daughter attends a local college. The first year, we just stumbled across it and were delighted with the street festival. The second year, we made it a destination. Typical street fair, but the area is really neat - shops, restaurants, and bars. It is pretty trendy little area in a small town.

The Richmond, In depot district organized under the direction of Roger Richert in Fort Wayne Avenue business district which housed the Railroad District designed by the famous architect Daniel Burnham, best know for designing the World Fair site in Chicago. Today's venues are housed by furniture stores, variety shops, antique shops, designer stores, and several unique taverns and family oriented eating establishments. Many of the business establishments are vintage family owned business still offering excellent service to their valued customers. PLEASE come to Richmond,Indiana and visit its pride and joy in the locally developed Ft. Wayne Avenue business district.

This is a great place to eat, drink, and have fun. Lots of fun things to look at (even the furniture store is fun) and lots of great activities. Watch for Christmas in the Depot, Ice carving in the Depot, etc. A great place to stroll around, eat and window shop.
