Mississinewa is a perfect place to spend a day at the beach, hiking, or camping. We've camped here several times, their cabins are a great rate and are super clean. The bathrooms are always clean as well. The scenery here is gorgeous, especially in late October and the beach is great in the summer for a quick swim. The Blue Heron trail in the park is very easy for novice hikers with good vistas of the lake. The Lost Sister trail just up the road in Francis Slocum SRA is great and more of a challenge with inclines, stairs, and several bridges covering a stream bed. We usually spot a few deer and other creatures while hiking this trail. Even though this lake is a popular spot for boating it's typically pretty quiet, even on Saturdays and it's rare to run into another person while hiking. As with most state recreation areas it's 5 dollars to get in the park but if you just wanted to hike the Lost Sister trail there's no fee since it's in an adjacent SRA with no fee.
