I've photographed more than 100 churches throughout the United States and the North Christian Church ranks in my top 10! The architecture is unique and amazing. I was fortunate to have the interior of the church to myself. Typically it's a challenge getting the lights turned on, but there were instructions on the wall as I entered the church. The North Christian Church was the highlight of my photography trip to Columbus, Indiana.

Exploring this well known architecture of Columbus, Indiana is worth the time. It is a beautiful designed church, very unique with the classrooms and offices and meeting rooms surrounding the inner church. Lovely done.

This is a keystone piece of archetecture in a city that has the highest concentration of archetectural masterpieces found anywhere. Many of the biggest names in archetecture have designed buildings for Columbus, Indiana. It was once refered to as "The Athens of the Prairie"

The sanctuary is built in a circle with the altar in the middle and the choir at one end. This allows for the flow of worship throughout the building.

If you have a chance, the interior of the church is worth seeing. The hexagonal shape suggests the connection of the members and the altar moves for different events. Quite a thoughtful reflection and approach to the Sunday experience.

This building, by the younger Saarinen, is worth the drive out from the many sights in downtown Columbus. The exterior is stunning, and the interior is a masterpiece of simplicity. Take the time to sit down and admire the tranquil interior.

Great exterior, we took many pics. It has a very nice neighborhood, lots of greenery and very quite place. There were not many people, may be you see lot of people at the time of mass.

It difficult to put into words the feeling one gets entering this architectural masterpiece. Saarinen has created a moving, hexagonal space that is richly detailed and inspiring. The use of wood warms the stark, almost gothic space while the organ adds a welcome decorative note. The landscaping by Dan Kiley makes a noteworthy contribution to the overall success of this incredible church. DO NOT MISS!

We live two blocks from this beautiful church and it really id so perfect for its purpose. The best way to see this ant the other great National Historic Landmarks in town is on the Architecture tour out of the visitor's center, but usually you can just walk in a nd look around. Be sure to go into the sanctuary; it feels like you are being lifted straight up to the heavens. If you can visit in early spring when the magnolias are in bloom you will have a memory that you can cherish forever. Beautiful.
