There is a drive around the battlefield that allows visitors to step out of their cars and read about what happened at each station. See the video first.

Unless you're local, or a national park / Revolutionary War nerd; you've probably never heard of this park. It's well worth looking into. Morning Greensboro traffic wasn't bad, for which I was thankful given the several turns to be negotiated. However, be ready if you go in the morning from the north or west, you will have to contend with sunrise.I knew nothing about this battle before coming here. The Visitor Center displays, video and staff did an excellent job of enlightening me, and giving me leads in other areas of interest like genealogy. The battlefield driving tour was short, and it can be supplemented with a number of fairly short walks and monuments. Without an entry fee, it is a popular place for bicyclists and walkers with and without dogs.I'm very happy I made time for this stop.

A nice walk, and good signage without detracting from the nature of this area. Describes the purpose of the park to remember those who died in wars and the importance of Guilford County. Need better descriptions of the Courthouse... or maybe I missed it. I loved the winding paths and its easy to choose different routes and not get lost. Saw a lovely BIG old Black snake sunning himself in a tree! Fun!!!

This is one of the best NPS battleground sites for the American Revolution. There is a first ratevisitor center and the park itself is great. It's a must for history buffs and a good place to take kids to learn about the history of our country. The walking tour is short enough to be enjoyed inan afternoon and you can do as much or as little as you like. Try to go during a living historyweekend or a battle reinactment.

This National Park contains an outstanding Visitor Center with excellent resources (staff, film, books, museum displays) to explain the course and historical significance of the battle. Although the British army held the ground at the close of the battle, the American army's fierce fighting inflicted severe casualties upon the British resulting in the loss of 25% of the British army's fighting effectiveness. This led to the British eventually abandoning the Carolinas and eventual surrender to Americans and French allied forces at Yorktown, Virginia according to the excellent historical sources on this battle.Anyone interested in American Revolutionary War History will thoroughly enjoy The Guilford Courthouse Battlefield National Park. Excellent brochures, books, monuments, and auto tour of battlefield--Superior March battle reenactment.

Exhibits give a great explanation of both the importance of this battle in the Revolutionary War and how it played out. A 2-1/4 driving or walking tour offers a chance to really immerse yourself in the field. I felt I learned a lot here.

This park has nice trails for folks on foot, on bikes, or with dogs and/or strollers and children in tow. There is a lake with paddleboats and areas to reserve for picnics. There is also the historical significance and plenty of statues and markers and information boards to tell you all about what happened where. A couple of times a year there are military demonstrations -- camps set up and the like -- of how it would have been for the soldiers who fought there. Well worth a visit!

This is a beautiful park with lots of history! The park is very clean and well tended. I've been living in Greensboro for 30 years and this is a favorite place to visit and walk around. Just beautiful!

This may be the site that changed the war for independence, though Cornwallis claimed the victory his army was so badly mauled it never recovered and set the stage for Yorktown

We stopped by this museum and enjoyed the film depicting the events that happened in this area during the Revolutionary War. The museum was small, but informative and the grounds well kept.

A park that offers many recreational opportunities and most importantly a well organized presentation of the last major engagement in Cornwallis' failed attempt to split the southern colonies from the revolutionary cause. Although considered a draw or even a British victory in the sense that the Colonial forces retreated from the battle field at the end of the day, the battle was so disproportionally costly in men and resources for the British and loyalist forces, that they gave up their attempts to subdue to the rebellious southern colonies and headed to Yorktown where they expected to be evacuated to New York by the British fleet. Of course, thanks to the timely victory of the French fleet in the two battles of the Virginia Capes, that never happened. The British army was trapped and ultimately surrendered, thus ending the British attempts to overcome the revolution. The visitors center presents a concise and well organized explanation of this engagement. Two important battles that led up to Guilford Courthouse, Cowpens and King's Mountain, also have similar informative visitors centers and are within a few hours of Guilford Courthouse. The three can be seen in one day, but a better itinerary would be to take a weekend and include Alamance Battleground:http://www.nchistoricsites.org/alamance/alamanc.htmAll together these sites along with a little background reading (all of the visitors' centers have bookstore well stocked with material suitable for adults and children) would provide a delightful and informative insight into how our nation became independent. Guilford Courthouse has excellent trails for hiking and jogging. We started a 30 mile bike loop into the surrounding countryside here. One can reach rural less busy roads fairly quickly from the parking lot.

I love visiting historical sites & am a Passport stamp collector. They have a nice visitors center & then a driving or walking tour. The scenery is beautiful.

This park is a must see for visitors to Greensboro. It is a pretty place but more importantly the battle put Guilford County on the map. There are numerous monuments and plaques; Do not miss the excellent visitor center and museum on Old Battleground Road. A great place to just stroll or ride bikes.

This was the last National park we hit last year when we drove from CA to NC and it is a nice park. Lots of trails for the size, it also is part of the greenway trail system so it is easy to bike to from the north or the south you could even take the bicentennial greenway trail all the way from high point to the park. Not sure if they are always closed on Sunday, but it was closed a few times on Sundays when we went to visit, but the parking is still open across the street and you are just really locked out of the building.
