this is the original coin mint building. the structure is well preserved and refurbished to house some of the best art in north carolina. the art collection has been supplied by wealthy donors in the region. it has been well received and appreciated by area visitors. the expansion of the museum has moved to downtown charlotte. on special occasions areas of the museum are opened by invitation for entertainment. charlotte appreciates the gifts.

Loved the glass work and fashion display. There is also an extensive collection of pottery and artwork in the collection. Don't miss viewing the timeline of the Mint in Charlotte before you go.

This museum has a nice collection of south American and African artifacts. Its European art is from lesser known artists but still very nice. It took about and hour and a half to walk through. A pleasant diversion.

I thought mint museum meant historical money inside there but I was highly disappointed with seeing only two cases of coins and majority of museum looked like a regular museum of artwork

We had considered having our daughter's wedding reception at the Mint Museum. We opted for another choice, however we would have done well to have had it at the Mint. When I lived in Charlotte, I lived close to Randolph Road, and so therefore, I visited the Mint frequently. I can even remember going to the Egyption exhibit back in the 1990's. It was simply marvelous!!!

Centrally located in downtown Charlotte, across from Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Definitely visit both if you have time.

I was really impressed with the fashion collection at the Mint Museum - sharp selection and inspired curation. We went with our two kids and again dress history proved to be a great point of departure for talking with kids about issues of gender and class.

I never made the connection that the Mint Museum used to actually be a mint. They have some rare old coins that were minted in the building, which is pretty neat. I was surprised to find a rather extensive clothing collection, which was very interesting. I would love to have spent more time looking at them.

I liked the history of the building itself and the location. This museum has a very good collection of garments worn by men and women of the 18th and 19th century. It is situated in a nice park and green space.

I do not like too much the modern art and I find difficult to understand modern art and appreciate the masterpieces exposed. The Mint Museum is an exception. The visit was really enjoyable, the exposed pieces are a stimulus to the brain and a great joy. The museum is small and can be accurately visited in few hours so that you will never get tired of it.

This museum is set in a parklike spot. It has shows from its' collections and traveling shows and is a pleasant place to spend some time.

Since I sew and am interested in costuming, the exhibit of clothing here is absolutely spectacular. I could just sit in the exhibit for hours to soak in the exquisite details on the pieces. The grounds are lovely . I will go back to this museum again!

If you have time for only one museum in Charlotte, head to Randolph road. Great venue - much surpassing 'uptown'. Very good museum shop, albeit small, and plenty of free parking. Plus, you can learn about the original Mint in Charlotte.

Just one discovery after another, over 5 floors of various curiosities and wonderful art. Truly an interesting and educational way to spend an afternnon in Uptown Charlotte

I had a very quick visit and plan to return again. The area around the museum is really nice for walking.
