I accompanied my son's 3rd grade class to the Museum and I must admit it was a pleasant surprise. Having been to the Smithsonians numerous times, I figured this was just a little county museum, but it was packed full of local history and exhibits. I thoroughly enjoyed myself -- probably more than the kids and promised myself that I would go back when I could walk around at my leisure. The staff has done an excellent job of documenting local history and educating our children about life as Pioneers, etc. While it's not huge, it is packed full of interesting items. I loved seeing the old pictures of what Downtown Salisbury used to look like and looking in ledgers from old general stores to see if I could recognize a name. So many interesting items on local townspeople. Well worth a visit!

I am amazed how much Salisbury was a bustling town back in the day. They have tons of cool artifacts and awesome displays. The only problem I have is that they do not have enough of Black displays that do not involve slavery. It would be nice to have display that had black achievements in the town.

The museum brings a person back in time with many artifacts and details on the way life used to be. A person may also rent out the beautiful 2nd floor for wedding receptions, meetings, etc. What a wonderful place to visit

Located in the old courthouse, the Rowan Museum gives the visitor a look back on old Salisbury City and Rowan County. It has a wide variety of artifacts and often adds a special feature. Another good sight to be added to your tour of Salisbury.
